hot weather = summer = enjoying ever since i was born. My spending habits depends on my personal income, at the moment the place where i am living is having severe recession for two decades and as such my spending is down by 70% of what it was 20 years ago.

Aircon, beach, and ice cold beer!!! Spending remains consistent with previous years.

I tend not to go out as much in July and August because in Tokyo, that means dressing up. I prefer to stay at home. I do spend a lot more on bottled water and fruit like watermelons, peaches, nectarines and so on.

The aircon for sure up by 2000 yen a month. Switched to Brita water filtering instead of bottled water dropping that cost.... I started grabbing the chuhi 9% introduced this year. Overseas travel is a cheapie with 85yen to the USD... To me, every summer is brutal here.

It's summer! Of course the utility bills go up, but in winter there is the heating bill as well, so there is very little difference. The only difference I have seen is the ever-present locals walking around and gasping out, "atsui!" - Yeah, it's summer! Have a drink and shut up!

Yes, it has affected my spending because I mostly stay indoors on weekends and spend very little. Also, I don't spend money during the work week.

I stopped making any major purchases in Japan years ago, regardless of the season. Expensive goods are much cheaper abroad or through importation.

100 yen shop is as far as I can walk in this heat, so doing pretty well this month.

Yeah, for sure, utilities. Spending longer in the shower since it's cold, the aircon. I have been making more trips to the conbini lately too, which I didn't notice or think about until today, haha.

Spending habits?

I have a habit of spending more time in the sun.

Eating ice creams is chaeper than eating Ramens in winter....so I am saving. No hot baths...instead I soak in the sea and than in the river to take the salt off....so my water bill is down too. Since I go to the beach a lot, I don't go much to the dep. stores...no spending of money there either. Insteadof going to the restaurant, I have BBQ parties on the beach with friends...very cheap on my food bills because I only pay half of the time. Since I am seldom at home, the electricity bill is down too.

I have a lot more laundry to do now that my clothes and face towels are sweat-soaked by noon and threatening to stink by evening.

I only eat/drink/relax in stores with air-conditioning, limiting my time in the places that are without. I even have started loitering (and therefore trial-shopping) in places with really good air-conditioning, like departments stores, pachinko parlors or game centers.

Spending more on electricity and chilled adult beverages.

purchase lots of beer.

Spending less as I go out less.

Considering the fact that people can buy tings online in their own cool home, may not have changed many people. Higher electricity and bad yen exchange is what is effecting my savings.

Are you kidding me!!! This question is a total joke. If you ask me, the only thing that I can see myself spending money on in this hot humid weather is in ice cream to cool off. Other than that, my money stays in my bank where it is much cooler than the streets.

I become more frugal because I know my electric bill is going to kill me this month. I don't spend, but I do spend TIME in department stores, since they're cool. It helps that I hate summer fashion and they're still trying to get rid of it at all the stores.

More water and beers, more showers and...more laundry, everyday 3 or 4 Tshirt to wash !

I don't go out much, it's too hot for the baby. Go shopping twice a week for food (around 10 PM, to catch the waribiki), and the air conditioner is almost all the time on.We had 17000 yen electricity bill for July.

I'm responsible for a large part of the increase in beer sales!

'How has the hot weather affected your spending habits'

??? it really hasn't except that now I bring filtered water/pocari from home whenever I'm out.

Less spending, which is good as income goes down too when customers are in holidays. Less electricity and gas (no aircon, no need for hot water now), less food especially less meat and dairies... Then they lower certain prices for me each Summer : Fruits and veggies are cheaper (or free as many people have too many in their gardens), local swimming pool, rental videos and clothes too. Maybe I'm the contrary of some others, I can't stand the freezer-shops, so I avoid most stores, cinemas, etc.
