I still root for a team here and there..... in the end- most if not all of these guys are filthy rich and belong to clubs. The refereeing is suspicious indeed. Gillette should also try and get in the scene. That damn ball was a bottle rocket too- I gave it a bounce at a shop. The time zones banged me up once again with the wife telling me to shut up and turn it down. I thought crime would have been a bigger issue but only a few got worked over for some cash or a camera.
This was probably the worst World Cup I have seen, due to officiating, number of goals scored, and hype. The South African World Cup displayed a need for "Instant Replay" type review of about 50% of the officials calls, especially when some of the calls affected the outcome of the match. Kudos to Spain for winning...but I look forward to the next competition in Brazil.
Probably would have been much more entertaining if most of the best games were televised here before 3:00 AM. I think the time difference made it very difficult for the casual fan like me to really get too into it all.
Entertainment value high, lots of goals and upsets.
Quality of games, middling. Lots strangling defense and lacklustre stars this time around.
Refereeing, poor. If for the fact that they still haven't gotten goal verification right. How can such a critical part of the game still be so poorly administered?
How would I rate it? Third class! It is the biggest soccer comp in the world, yet they don't use video referees. There many incorrect calls made by the refs that would have been eliminated by using video refs.
Its hard to have any respect for men that spend their entire time whining and faking injuries; they are strong and fit, but they don't seem to be able to stay up.
It would also help if there were more goals, maybe making the net bigger; I'm sure players are taller today than they were when the rules were first introduced.
Do away with the offside. This would open up both sides of the pitch at the same time. Creating a "basketball game" effect where players must rush back to defend the possible "long bomb" pass.
Not being a rabid fan as others on our planet, some games were entertaining. Some poor calls were ugly. Still seems too long as a tournament. Good to see S Africa doing a good job as host.
The noisy horns was cool, the games were boring. The guy from portugal is a cry baby. It's funny when they fall down and make a tteary eyed face and get back up like nothing happened. Africa did a great job !!!!
Organization OK, Good surprises with Brazil, Argentina, Italy, France etc, Liked the drama of two brother during Germany-Ghana match, Good goals denied including England, Stupid Nigerian who tried to kick someone, Good fight by Japan, Korea, Good play by Forlan, Suarex a disgrace to the game, New champion good for the game
I agree that the time difference made it difficult to enjoy the games, but it will be worse when the World Cup is held in Brazil in four years. We will only be able to see one of the games at a reasonable hour. If they keep the same time schedule, games at 1:00 pm, 4:00pm and 8:30 local time, we will only be able to see the last game. But what can you do, they won't play the games in the middle of the night just to satisfy the viewers in Asia. Although, I thought the championship game in South Africa could have been played in the afternoon, and not starting at 8:30 local time. But I guess they were trying to appease the North American market, where the game came on at 2:00pm EST.

Referee standards were the worst, but I guess it's part of the game.
Who knows, God may actually be watching and putting his hands here and there...!

Pretty bad fare. France, Italy, Argentina failed to show. Like I always say, if you wanna see good football, watch the Champions League.
