If members of your family or friends overseas were thinking about coming to Japan for a holiday but were worried about the Fukushima nuclear crisis, what would you advise them to do?

Get on the plane and come and enjoy the rest of the country! Especially as we are coming into the nicest part of the year.

If they are "worried". Stay home. Easy!

Wear lead lined clothing (casual smart).

No one is that dim, I live here with Japanese wife and 2 young children so....they are perfectly comfortable to come. And from now until early November is the best time of year so some are coming.

I would advise them to buy ME a ticket & I would go visit them!

I'd tell 'em to grow up and do some research for themselves. There's 377000 other km2 to safely explore

Tell them to bring some iodine tablets with them just in case.

Come but don't go north of Chiba.

Go to Majorca.

My brother came to Japan once before the Fukushima business. I've met him three times in Thailand since. A better place to have a holiday.

I was in Japan in 2011 after the quake/tsunami (staying in Chiba prefecture) and also in 2012 (Tokyo), both times for extended holidays. I was never in any fear of becoming irradiated. I will be going again next year.

I would tell my friends to go... forget the scaremongers and horror stories about the country being a nuclear no-go zone and just enjoy the country I would love to call home one day.

If they want to see 100 million zombies squinting at their cell phones while they walk along the street, in stations, and everywhere else, I'll tell them they've picked the right place for a visit.

Ditto, Thunderbird2. I'm returning in October for my second visit and bringing my daughter. I'm also returning next spring. A better man than I once said, 'there's nothing to fear but fear itself."

They need to make their own, hopefully informed, decision. The information we get from the government is conflicting. One side is saying everything is under control, while the other says it is out of control. Who can you trust?

Just because it looks ok, doesn't mean it is ok. If people are happy to come, fine, but it would be foolish to come just because of people who just keep repeating that everything is under control there is no need to worry.

I suppose it depends where they are going but I would say not a problem.
