There isn't much you can't get here in Japan, unless you are veg'n, in which case there is very little veg(etari)an-friendly food. It would be great to have more types of dairy-free ice cream like you can get back in The Olde Countrie.

I do yearn forTwix bars sometimes.

Seconded. I've had to switch to making my own ice pops, which has made for some interesting results and dismal failures.

Parsnips and other kinds of cabbage except just ONE, notably savoy cabbage. Bramley's cooking apples - you can't make a real apple pie with anything else. Black pudding. Lamb (it's available, but rare). Pork pies! Brussels sprouts. Good spuds. Pontefract cakes (liquorice). CLOTTED CREAM! REAL scones without "bits" in them, i.e. no chocolate chips, dried fruit, candied peel or any other unnecessary ingredient. Faggots (nothing to do with anything gender related - it's a food item), mushy peas, real ale. Cream WITHOUT sugar. Well, that will do to start with!

I forgot; red lemonade, white pudding, soda bread, cassoulet, fabada, cheerios!

Cold/cured meats, pates, sausages (especially merguez & chipolatas), meat pies, wedges w sour cream & sweet chilli, French & Italian cheeses and dozens of European & Mediterranean dishes.

Having said that can't really complain, J food is wonderful & J chefs never fail to impress me with both J food & old continental Europe recipes I hadn't had for decades.

My first few years here, I used to make lists of things I wanted to eat when I went home.

Reading the question, I thought hard about what I could add, and there isn't really anything in particular I miss from home. There are a few things I enjoy when I go back, mostly things with lots of berries. But I don't particularly crave them or wish they were in Japan, I just enjoy them when I am back home.

Part of it could be however that because I travel to lots of other countries regularly, I'm able to eat things I don't get here, reducing the cravings I would have otherwise.

Rollmops granted around Xmas you can buy similar.

I can get most stuff here(cheeses, etc), local German butchers and bread shops help too. Most of the rest I can cook/bake myself.
