This is Japan, so no holiday is atarimae.

I work for a private high school and this year, thanks to the ways of the calendar, I have nine days off. Too bad the typhoon is eating into my vacation time.

Thanks to the good combination of three-days holiday and regular ones, I'm able to get nine days off from work. Through I not doing anything special for the season.

This year, we have nine consecutive days off. I'm looking forward to being able to take a decent break at the end of the year too.

My company is very generous. I get almost a fortnight off. Most importantly, with pay.

Yes... in my current job I got 3 payed days for summer vacation... in my former job i got 5 days though (both Japanese companies)

Funny thing that, when i was working for a certain European and also for a certain South American country Trade agencies... i got no summer vacations (or overtime pay, or commuting allowance). So I had experience toxic-overtime. no-summer-vacation, no-new-years-vacation labour in Japan... but my employees where non-japanese

I wish the companies would give those 3 or 4 days off, in another time imof the employee choosing, therefore avoiding the crowdness, price hike of the hotels and attractions, etc, during this period.

Personally, I prefer working on those days just to avoid all that. There is zero fun waiting for hours on congested expressway after you pay an inflated price for your vacation.
