In the future, how would you feel about robots with artificial intelligence working with you at your workplace or functioning as servants in your home?

I am okay with it. The "smart" technologies that we already have in our daily life is already a glimpse of that and it is a double-edged sword in my opinion. The good side of it is that it frees up time and thinking space for people to focus on other things. The downsides of that is it makes people lazier, it dulls their skills and companies expect people to work more since their life is more efficient. The ideal level of AI automation in my home that I would probably want would be that I can program all of my appliances to activate at a certain time so that when I wake up, my breakfast is already warmed up, there's hot water, lights are on, and so on. That would save my at least 15 minutes of my morning preparations.

If they function like most "AI" I currently interact with then it will just be another low performing colleague to deal with.

We are some distance from Commander Data and Aji 3. At this time, and for some time into the future, no matter how lazy you are, anything that can record audio and video in your home on behalf of others, or has an 'AI' sticker on it, should be avoided. It will be more use to others than it is to you.

Not sure how accurate the reports are, but according to the net, the guy who married his holographic Hatsune Miku has lost her as they have discontinued the service. Be warned that tech on subscription can vanish overnight. They can even delete your AI wife. Poor chap. So if you do get an AI chum, make sure it has standalone functionality, so a third party cannot just shut it down.

Japan is obsessed with robots.

in the future? I was in a izakaya about 6 months ago in Tochigi and my whole order came from a robot. Didn't talk to the staff at all except for to be seated.

Its unsettling because it highlights the depopulation plight of the rural communities which the Kasumigaseki people just don't seem to care about.

What will happen when the majority of workers are no longer required?

Seeing as I am from Baltimore, I do not have to worry about that. No self-respecting robot will have anything to do with me.

Like apocalypse:(

No way, they are meant to be a replacement for heavy or boring work processes, so working together with them would logically imply that we are still have to do that heavy or boring work also ourselves. Maybe a few services done by them would be a reason to have a few around, but normally they shouldn’t be visible or disturbing us too much and do their tasks in specific areas only for robots. In the current form they are more like a visual nuisance and importunate loudly communicating pollution, so I wouldn’t like to have them around me in numbers.

ABSOLUTE NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!

At that stage, the robots will be so self-aware that they will refuse to do dangerous and dirty work. They'll start employing we meat units for the dirty work. There should be work for all of us.

There will come a time shortly after 2050 when much of the manual labor is done by robots and other more complicated tasks by AI.

It will need a system of basic universal support.

It will need a system of basic universal support.

I agree. How such a system should be implemented is something that should be under discussion now. For example, a guaranteed income or some system that gives everyone a fixed share of the economy.

Taking a cue from Banks, all sentients like drones, Artificial Intelligent Minds and humans should have rights to self-determination. Basic needs are provided for in a post-scarcity society, which is possible in the near future with better distribution of resources.

For most work, machines approaching sentient consciousness are not necessary.

Present machine learning applications can already perform a wide range of tasks better than humans.

Very nervous!

All hail our Robot overlords!

Robot, from the Czech robota meaning slave.

We've already been live with robots and machines. Also, we are dependent on them to make our lives convenient. We have AI on smartphone and ICT on our education. I think I have no doubt that human beings will utilize such technology. However, we need to think about how to deal with them. Human activities should not be replaced in robot or machine to preserve our cultures. Therefore, we need to keep how to USE technologies for our lives in mind.

A much better idea than importing cheap labor from poverty stricken South East Asian countries. Hopefully te robots won't start killing each other, stealing fruit and livestock and committing other crimes.
