Beckham doesn't even make the first XI in a Manchester United first XI, or even a Sir Alex Ferguson best XI. Good as he is (and I have always been a big fan of Beckham) Cristiano Ronaldo is a monster for the ride side of midfield!
In my lifetime
Schmeichel, Maldini, Baresi, Sammer, Carlos Alberto, Maradona, Zidane, Michael Laudrup, R Baggio, Van Basten, Messi.
Subs: Southall, C Ronaldo, Gullit, Ronaldo, Hagi, Careca, Rijkaard.
Manager - Ferguson.
Beckham doesn't fit in to this team... I don't know, best team of all time.. how can you honestly compare George Best to the modern players? Is Stanley Matthews better than Cristiano? How would Di Stefano make the grade at Madrid today? Training methods and diet have changed drastically in the last 40 years
any case, my idea..at least what I think the best team of the last 10-12 years would be
GK - Van Der Sar
RB - Cafu
LB - Roberto Carlos
CB - Maldini (I Guess he was a LB but I want him in there)
CB - Vidic
Mid - Zidane
Mid - C. Ronaldo
Mid - Xavi
FW - Messi
FW - Raul
FW - Bergkamp
There have been so many super players throughout the years that it is hard to narrow it down to a single team. However, off the top of my head ... let's see ...
I'm not sure of all the spellings, but I'd go with Pele, Sir Bobby Charlton, Gary Linekar, a young George Best, Ronaldo, Messi, Maradona, Platini, Christiano Ronaldo, Ronaldjino, Zico and Baggio ... but, hey, wait a minute ... I'd have a team of strikers and gunning mid-fielders. Anyway, I'd also put Beckham in there somewhere as he performs at a high level when surrounded by good players. In goal, guess I'd go with Germany's Oliver Kahn.

"He can't kick with his left foot, he can't head, he can't tackle, and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that, he's alright"
George Best on David Beckham

The question asks you to name your team.

I don't care who I have on my team as long as I have Oliver Kahn in goal.

I just realised that I couldn't name more than 5 or 6 international soccer players... so Yes, Beckham would make the team!
