Netflix plans to start charging some customers more to share their accounts with people who aren’t in the same household in an effort to crack down on unauthorized password exchanges. What do you think of this?

It's their business. I have to think that unauthorized sharing of your Netflix account is the same as illegally copying a DVD and passing it along. Can't think of any difference.

Agreed. Netflix has invested the money to produce or buy the shows, so has the right right to manage access to them.
Too many people these days seem to think they're entitled to free stuff, whether it's handed to them or they essentially steal it.

uh everyone who uses my Netflix does live in my house but during the week my sister in law lives at an apartment closer to her work... are they going to charge me when she's using it and she's not home?

Hmm, it’s going to be interesting trying to justify charging for sub-accounts when the basic price allows for multiple devices. At present, the premium package allows for 4 devices. If those 4 devices are not inside the home, does Netflix intend to charge more?

I'd like to know how they're gonna prove you're sharing your account? Different IP? Can just say you live between two different locations.

this could be a case of Netfix shooting itself in the foot

Netflix is getting ready to start selling commercials. Not a lot of sympathy for them now.
When cable TV first started, it was commercial free. That’s why you signed up. Customers paid.
Now you pay through the nose for cable and have to sit through 7 commercials every 15 minutes and still can’t find anything to watch other than shopping channels and sports.
Streaming is no better now. They $5.99 you to death per month for separate channels on top of $60-70 per month just to get broadcast TV and some bundled channels on YouTubeTV, etc. Add up your internet service and some basic channels and it can be $150 per month, and still have very few quality shows to watch.
The public library is a great value. No commercials yet. But I’m sure there are people thinking right now how to add advertising inside classic books.
