as M3 just said, itl be ready, but the extra costs in finishing the stadium on time will blow out the costs, which defeats the purpose of designing a new stadium, quality will be replaced with quantity

As others mentioned here, I think it should have been built up North to rebuild the economy there.

"Serrano, the 1964 Tokyo Olympics were held in October. Sports Day on Oct 10th is in commemoration of that."

By golly you're right! So it was the 1964 Autumn Olympics! Why can't they do that in 2020? It would give them a couple more months to get the damn stadium built too!

This is all just a charade, what with the broken economy, the ongoing disasters etc. I don't believe or trust Mr.Abe. He'll more than likely start a war, to cover the fact that he can't get everything done on time.

Good luck with that

Not bad if it would not get finished... I don't support the Olympics being held in Tokyo anyway. Should be held in a healthier part of the world, don't believe that Tokyo is free of contamination!

Wake Up J Govt.. NOW.. Like FightingViking says Nothing is under control. PM Abe Lied to the Olympics Committee then and he is lying now. Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is not contained as he promised it would be. No work to entomb the plant has even been started. Nothing is under control...Tokyo and the rest of Japan is a hotbed of Radioactive Contamination ....

It will be ready.

I think choosing Tokyo for the Olympics was a BIG mistake to start with... NOTHING is "under control"...

Viking, my thoughts EXACTLY. Took the words right out of my mouth.

Actually all summer olympics and all winter olympics should be held inthe one location. In the current climate, it is far easier for the people of the world to travel to the olympic site than it is to keep creating olympic facilities in a new location each time.

"I think that, for the athletes' sake, delays should be intentionally implemented so that the Olympics start two months behind schedule. Today, September 27, is a pleasant summer-like day here in Tokyo."

Then it wouldn't be the summer olympics, it would be the autumn olympics. GREAT IDEA!

I think it will be ready but I'm just worried that the design will be very lackluster and boring.

The Beijing National Stadium (bird's nest) for all its faults looks incredibly striking and original.

Just hope the Japanese can come up with something cool like that... but surely they must be planning a very "safe" and hence boring design...

It will be done in due time .

They have still been working in site clearance and preparation, even without a design, so the delay shouldn't be too bad.

I think that, for the athletes' sake, delays should be intentionally implemented so that the Olympics start two months behind schedule. Today, September 27, is a pleasant summer-like day here in Tokyo. About 25°C; a few clouds in the sky, but it's not raining. Any athletic competition could take place today with no worries about heat exhaustion.

They can't build a stadium in 4 years plus a few months?

And, like FightingViking said, choosing Tokyo was a mistake, it's insanely hot and humid in summer.

I'm sure it will be ready. They will draft in every available construction worker in Japan if they have to, the question is at what cost.
