have your say

Vaccine opponents have been around for a long time. Their claims range from relatively modest safety concerns about specific vaccines or the risk of side effects to conspiracy theories that border on the bizarre. What do you think about them?

I honestly never imagined that the scope of individuals who were dropped on their heads as children was so horrifyingly large.

It depends on the credibility of the person. If let's say that the naysayer is medical professional, his claims would carry some weight to it. But if it is just another armchair doctor, I wouldn't look into it that much. I like to keep an open mind in this. I really don't trust big pharma and the government that much.

They are the willingly unclean who walk amongst us. Very distasteful.

People should have the right to make their own choices about vaccines. In America drug makers are protected from liability by law. A person can file a claim through the federal government but are also governed by a non-disclosure requirement. Millions have been paid out over the years for health or death damages but the public has little or no awareness of this.

The Japanese government has also played along, giving in to the hysteria surrounding side effects of the cervical cancer vaccine. Removing it from routine immunisation will cost thousands of lives and many more removed wombs.

I'm not sure you understand how "herd immunity" works. Those of us who CAN take vaccines should, so that those that cannot (immunity compromised et al.) are protected. You thin that veneer of protection too much, and it becomes very problematic.

Vaccine opponents are cranks and not ever to be taken seriously. They have existed for almost 200 years. The first political cartoon on the subject was made 1808.

It’s in some cases part of a deeper pathology. The anti-vaccine crowd are very often conspiracy theorists. It’s part of the package these ‘free thinkers’ swallow whole.

Sounds reasonable, but the responses here are Biblically vindictive of even such rational concerns.

"Dropped on their heads... unclean... cranks...." Apparently, daring to ask questions is considered unacceptable to many people.

Don't forget that it is also government agencies, as well as "experts" and "scientists" that gave us the food pyramid and margarine, and told us to avoid salt, eggs, fat,.... That was all bad advice from corrupt and ignorant people that certainly killed millions.

Vaccines are not without risks. In previous "pandemics", people were pressured (exaggerating the threat) to take inadequately tested vaccines, resulting in several cases of paralysis and death.

I am not necessarily against vaccines, but we should have an honest discussion of the benefits and risks of vaccines, as well as alternatives. There are a number of vaccine opponents that make valid points, and they should be part of this discussion rather than silenced.

Also, what is not reassuring is the fact that Bill Gates is one the greatest proponents of vaccination. Yes the same Bill Gates who was unable to prevent viral infections of his own operating system, is always talking about the need to reduce the world population, has funded the Wuhan Lab carrying out Corona virus research, his father was head of Planned Parenthood,...

I agree. It seems you have to be either against all vaccines in favor of all vaccines. I guess the idea that some vaccines might be different from others doesn't fit with a faith-based approach.

Yeah, I saw her on the Valuetainment site, very interesting indeed:

BTW, she does say she is not against vaccines, but she does strongly oppose what is going on.

Dr. Rashid A. Buttar was also very interesting:

Not taking a vaccine because you have a conspiracy theory about 'Big Pharma' or 'Deep State' is like not wearing a seatbelt because you distrust 'Big Motor' or 'Deep Physics'. It's a highly illogical and irresponsible approach given the wealth of historical evidence that shows that vaccines do eradicate deadly diseases.

Measles is making quite a comeback in the US due to the idiocy of anti-vaxxers who put their political loyalties before their own kids' health.

Anti-vaxxers/conspiracy theorists don't like facts. They wear their rejection of science, facts and truth like a badge of honour.

They didn't bother me much until the advent of the internet, which is a haven for those kind of cranks.

It's one thing to ponder over JFK, UFOs and suchlike but when it comes to risking peoples lives, they should put their evangelical stance aside for a bit.
