I made the “mistake” of watching movies like Schindler’sList and TheGreenMile when I was still a kid…; the electric chair gave me nightmares…; later I watched movies like Salò and ASerbianFilm but that was a different kind of disturbing…; a lot more disturbing was some Japanese snuff movies, not the GuineaPig series, but other ones that I refuse to mention here…; recently I’ve watched the Korean one… ISawTheDevil and that one is a recommendation of mine… great, amazing movie… it’s not just the gory parts… to see a man lose everything and become completely “empty” is truly disturbing and sad.
"Little Big Man." The scenes of massacre were too much for me, had to walk out. I avoid horror flicks because I can't stomach them. While much of Little Big Man was very good, and no one would call it a horror flick, the massacre scene was not what I expected, and too much, IMO. I do not deny it as historical record.
On a separate note, Miike's Audition (1999), especially it's finale, was very hard to stomach (3 quarters of the viewers left while I was squirming in my seat...)
The tone of this movie make it all the more jarring - it starts off almost like a boring drama with romantic inklings then goes a very, very disturbed rabbit hole. The change in tone and pace almost gives viewers whiplash. It's one of my favorite movies of Miike's.
Oh yeah, Martyrs… that one messes with our mind… “when you’re not you anymore…”, “when you accept and embrace pain…” again, it’s not just the gore, it’s the psychological part of it… extremely disturbing sh…
I mean if these type of movies are your bag, the New French Extremity category is where you should go.
Inside is another excellent(!) movie and imho, it’s a superior movie when compared to Martyrs and other French movies from that category.
A lot of the movies mentioned here are horror or psychological type. They’re not real folks! I never understood nor got the attraction.
For that very reason, something that did happen, and for many who had grandfathers or family there, easily the scariest movie: Saving Private Ryan. When you have D-Day veterans walking out of the theatres because it was too close, too accurate…….The first 25 minutes are something I shall never forget. Heaven knows what it must have REALLY been like, especially at Omaha Beach.

"A Clockwork Orange" Demented stuff.
"Good Luck Chuck" I still can't believe someone green lit that garbage.
