Places where you can go on the Shinkansen in about 90 minutes from Tokyo and have nice bathing facilities. Joetsu Kokusai and Maiko are my favs in that category.
Have to agree with posters that say that Nagano is No 1. Togakushi is the best by far in my opinion. Check it out in the summer as well. Its also great.
The best powder I ever rode was in Nagano after a heavy snowfall the night before. It was really like surfing on clouds for the entire morning. I agree that Nagano beats Hokkaido for snowboarding in general.
Out West here we don't have the same options as the prime ski estate areas. But frequent Mizuho Highland in Shimane whenever I can - pretty nice. And try to get to Gifu Dynaland / Takasu if I've got time (and money - gas & hwy)

Haven't been in ages, but I think Nagano in general holds the prize. Hokkaido of course a close second.

kuju (Oita), Tenzan (Saga) and Gokase (Miyazaki).
And yes, perhaps I ought to be a little more adventurous....

I hate cold weather and snow. Global warming should fix things I am hoping. So I do not have a favorite.

My living room and a Nintendo Wii. Warmer, cheaper, and less chance of injury.

Surely no ones going to answer this question truthfully in case thousands of people suddenly descend on their paradise.

but it really doesn't matter where you go...a bad day on the slopes is still better than a good day in the office. #idratherbeskiing
