Sensible answers only, please.

Damn. I was going to have fun with that. Anyway...

combine showa 昭和 and heisei 平成

You simply get 平和 peace.

simple

Another way to combine showa 昭和 and heisei 平成 is by using the other 2 kanji and get 成昭 (to become bright or get used to the brightness)..

Sorry Aly, they're unlikely to go for anything beginning with M,T,S or H (though I think 平和would be lovely)

How about 更新or 更改 (renewal), 更界(new world) , 安界 (peaceful/stable world) or 安代 (age of peace).

安界 (peaceful/stable world) or 安代 (age of peace).

Cleo, those are nice words, but I don't want anything with the 安 (as in 安倍) character. And you know that narcissistic charlatan would try to put it in there behind the scenes.

安 (as in 安倍)

Ooer, I never thought of that!

Scrap  安界 and 安代 !

(pity, though....)

「革命」(kakumei) - Revolution

Because this country sure could use one.

Hi cleo! I'm curious.. Why is that?

How about 更新or 更改 (renewal), 更界(new world) , 安界 (peaceful/stable world) or 安代 (age of peace).

All amazing names! Very lovely!

So true mate! So true!

Oh man I hear you on that one!

I'm curious.. Why is that?

Because they're used on forms (for date of birth, etc.) as abbreviations for Meiji, Taisho, Showa and Heisei.

I suppose Meiji could be phased out soon....how many people around born before 1912?

城時

Joji, or Shirotoki

Just thought that it in this time Japan as an entity is fortifying itself, in various ways, some circuitous.

憲新 follow Abe and let Japan become independent.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

安久 peace forever

1 ( +1 / -0 )

A Japanese version of liberte, egalite, fraternite. Japan needs all three.

Thanks for that beautiful!

Something nice and happy and uncontroversial

And easy to write, read

And different initial letter to previous eras

Should be our criteria.

Well, I hope they allow the new Emperor to have some input into his Era’s name.

Perhaps something with 治 in it, to heal wounds.
