Bejing Olympics was the best show on earth. It was CREATIVE and BRILLIANT. I do not know if London can top that. And 2016 Summer Olympics 1st pick (? BRAZIL ? ) 2nd pick ( ? Chicago ? ) Good Luck to the althletes !!!!

I guess nobody died, so thats a good thing. I read several months ago where china was experimenting with rockets to disperse rain clouds, as 8/8/8 has a 50% historical chance of rain. I think the medals look cool with the jade circle.

It started too late and was too long (as they are all are). That little girl singing was cute, but I suspect she was slip-synching. After all, how could they sure she wouldn't freeze on such a big occasion?

The other thing that I most noticed was how unfashionable the athletes' uniforms were. What was going through the mind of the designers? Japan's wasn't too bad, though.

Maybe the PRC should have found a way to placate Steven Spielberg (as former artistic director). There's so much traditional/historical cool stuff to showcase in China but they just threw random stuff around in the vain attempt to entertain us.

A good thing Japan carried both the hinomaru and the PRC flag- I didn't see anything thrown at them this time.

Ha ha ha! The Olympics has only just started.

I do agree, the opening ceremonies do tend to drag on a bit. The athletes themselves must have wanted to just go back to their rooms and rest.

On the whole, I did enjoy it, though. Yes, even I thought the little girl was lip-synching.

team sports and all national symbols should be excluded from the olympics, but unfortunately they are not. the olympics is just peacetime warfare. note the us's disproportionate numbers relative to its population, for example, while india's is staggeringly low.

The best Olympic show ever, Congrates China..i doubt if any other country can put together such a grand show..Guys dont be cynical and throw away your anti-china sunglasses. btw, thanks to NHK for broadcasting the ceremony and as always the commentators sucked..they had done very little homework except JoshiANA's classic insightful lines like sugooooiiiii, subarashiiiii for every 2 minutes.

Great ceremony same as Berlin in 1936.

If a country wants to hold great ceremony it should be fascism or communism regime.

TRUTHx, you are right. Tokyo should not hold Olympic in 2016.

I thought the ceremony was great and I love seeing each team come through - the athletes were just glowing, weren't they? I think they need to limit the parade to athletes only though - would save time and no need for those coaches/officials really. Like some of the teams only had 3 athletes but still an entourage of 10-15 ppl. Thought some of the national uniforms were interesting - Japan's was nice and simple and NZs looked good too. Australia's was....ermm... no comment.

what I saw was OK but that thing drags on far too long!

Excellent show. Enjoyed every moment of it. Loved the beginning when the drums woke up the "ancestor" and he starts to walk towards the stadium shown by giant fireworks in the shape of footsteps across Beijing.

Spectacular! Fantastic!Almost 10 out of 10,what will London do now?The show was all about culture, tradition, achievements ,power, beauty, harmony ...but lack of human emotion.China must be very pleased and proud with Middle Kingdom status where every important countries, leaders in the world gathered in Beijing to hear Hu jin Tao's speech. From now on,China should not be classified as developing nation and exempt from Kyoto,Bush has been right about this.America had the best look.

it was fantastic, but im sure all the ppl that were forced out of their homes and arrested if they complained, so they could make the new stadiums, didnt enjoy it as much.

Overdone and pathetic. China needlessly produced a flamboyant circus to tout its archaic themed nationalism, gross conformity, and glorification of fabricated history. Now we have reports that the fireworks and the singer were fakes.

I finally saw some clips of it. I didnt watch on TV cause i thought there would be clips on youtube, But alot were removed? i dont think youtube removed them cause they wanted to. Did china have them removed? i asked my self. WHY? this is a very positive thing. several ones i clicked on were slide show to music, i took awhile but found a few. from what i saw it Looked exstravigant & very Fun.
