The best defense is a good offense. If you wait until you have jet lag, it's too late.

when I was younger, I used Pizzatime's strategy. It didn't really work, but I was not travelling that much and mostly for pleasure, so it didn't really matter. Nowadays I have to travel a lot, mostly for business, so I use sleeping pills. 2-3 nights and things are back to normal

I take Melatonin. Gets rid of about 80% of my jetlag. I don't understand why people still make a fuss about jetlag when there's a cure for it anyway.

Jeff, you need a prescription for Melatonin in Japan

@timeon Well, people who travel distances far enough away from Japan to induce jetlag are most often going to countries where Melotonin is sold over the counter. That's how I stock up!

There's a homeopathic product called No Jet-lag that is helpful. http://www.nojetlag.com/

Used as directed and followed up (if/as needed) with sleeping pills for a couple of days works well for me.

Good nutritional habits also help: alcohol in moderation, staying hydrated as well as avoiding junk food, sugary and caffeinated beverages to keep the body in optimum balance.

Fly with the sun, not against it. Once flew London to Tokyo via Anchorage, and across Asia/Europe on the way back - no jet lag!
