I am still a fan of the original energy drink,,, Mountain Dew!!! Have a Big Gulp of Mountain Dew for 99 cents from 7/11 and you are wired and good to go...
I drink them once in a while, but I don't feel the energy buzz that I need... maybe I need more than one at a time. It's better when I have a big nice cup of hot coffee.
if you have the money and believe that a certain brand of commercialized energy drink gives you a kick, good for you.
i prefer good old strong coffee, and separately lots of vit-C, all for a lower price, makes me feel good, and i believe it's healthy.
I also believe in the life prolonging effects of some alcohols, such as a good red wine, where there's no need to mix it with totally artificial energizers.
The active ingredients in energy drinks varies, as do their side effects. None are superior. They all carry potential to do awful things to your body. Skip the energy drinks and instead give your body true energy by using other healthy alternatives without useless added sugar and loads of caffeine.
Years ago, I used Lipovitan and if I remember something called Aspara E (?), being a Dragons fan, I just could not bring myself to give the "Chisai na Kyojin" (Oronamin C) a try ! Lipovitan seemed to work OK.
1 Monster (Japan-size) helps me get through the day when I'm sleepy.
People say I should drink coffee because it is natural but for some reason coffee makes me want to puke.
A Coffee junkie myself. But in my teens I witnessed a girl overdosing on caffeine pills, it was a rather serious event, so there is certainly such a thing as too much caffeine.
Water, sugar and caffiene. An unhealthy waste of money. Better to drink some plain water with some good natural fruit like an orange or some grapes.
These so called 'health drinks' are more in the trend of supplying modern societies addiction to sugar and salt. That is why there are so many fat people around, even in Japan now.
@Wakarimasen Totally. Monster and vodka is awesome. After four or five of those you get a decent buzz from the vodka and the shakes from all the caffeine in your system. Drunk and wired ftw!
Why do energy drinks all have the same basic supersweet bubblegum juice flavor like Dekavita? At some point someone arbitrarily decided this, and then forevermore all energy drinks must taste this way. Like toothpaste--which must always taste like mint. Why? I'm so sick of it.

Energy drinks are so overrated. They taste awful, for the most part, and leave you feeling tired. I know that from experience.

That being said, my favorite "energy" drink is coffee so strong I have to hold back the vomit.

I wish taurine in energy drinks was legal in Japan.

Sugar, sugar, sugar! Just drink water, and an ale now and then too.

Refreshing! Only wish Red Bull was cheaper. The Japanese genki drinks are too thick, sweet, and small. Like syrup shots.

Don't think much of them, you should get all your energy, etc from your diet and lifestyle.

I tried one called 'Relentless' this morning and I am actually feeling a bit light-headed. Won't be having that again.

Monster is delicious.
I drink 3 before every hockey game, and I'm buzzing like crazy and hitting people left right and center.
I'm sure it's not all that good for my body, but I'm really tall, and heavy too, so I think I'm okay...

Hogwash. A cup of coffee has more caffeine; all the other ingredients do nothing.
