What do you think of cosplay?

Harmless, playful fun.

Dressing up in costumes, playing silly games. But it's much better than war and fighting isn't it. Nothing wrong with ti at all.

Interesting point is that it really didn't originate in Japan either. If you look at the re-enactment of the US Civil war, Star Wars and Star Trek they all are Cos-playing.

Not my thing but keeps the kids and geeks off the streets.

Personally, no thanks. To each his own, I guess. Interesting at times.

Not really my thing, but I think ppl should do whatever they feel like, not what I approve.

It occurs to me I did it when a kid, tho I wouldn't have said it was cosplay. For one thing I was in plays regularly, but I also used to dress up as Riff Raff for the midnight show of Rocky Horror every week. It was actually a lot of fun. I didn't ever want to dress up as manga characters and go to conventions tho. Also, I see all the middle aged guys gathering in front of town hall every Sun dressed as 50's rebels/ Elvis and doing their rockabilly dancing. Never wanted to try, but hey, what's wrong with it at any age?

Generally speaking I think cosplay is harmless fun... but for the sake of argument, I do sometimes wonder about the moral acceptability of a grown woman dressing up in a Junior High School "sailor uniform" for the purpose of sex play. Is this sending out an image to men that it's okay to fantasize about, and, if the opportunity arises, have sex with underage girls?

In short cosplay is a second life that people look for and in their everyday life cosplay might be limited in various ways. This disallows them to be themselves at all times. Therefore in their costumes these people get the chance to be someone else even the opposite gender.

Different strokes, but really, people...

Everybody needs a hobby.

A lot of the girls are amazingly hot! Hmm. Might give it a try.
