What do you think of the Academy Awards ceremony and all its pomp? If a movie wins an Oscar, does that usually make you want to go and see it, if you already haven't?

I don't follow the Academy awards at all since it's pretty hard to miss the major winners due to all the hype and advertising thereafter anyway. Yeah, I might make an effort to see a movie if it wins an oscar.... maybe a couple of years later on a dvd rental.

I don't really care about the award ceremony, nor if a movie wins an Oscar.

Watch the movies that strike me as enjoyable and interesting not if they won an Oscar or not.

I agree with Zenny11. Can'T remember last time i watched an Oscar winning film.

BORING! The ceremony was originally designed to honor the work of everyone in the film industry. Now, it has become a platform for political comment. If it isn't that kind of a ceremony, then it is a 1000 thanks to people movie goers don't know unless they enjoy trying to catch the names as they roll up the screen while everyone else exits.

It was at its best when Billy Crystal was host. They should have made him host for life.

Boo hoo. Some unknown actress is already depressed because some unknown clothing critic said she was poorly dressed. Does anyone really care about either one? It is a diversion at its best.

The participants really are just actors. When it comes to delivering the compulsory boring thank you speech, some can't even do that without stumbling. High school speech writers an more rehearsal time is needed or a teleprompter.
