What do you think of Windows 7?

XP and Windows 2000 still work fine for me. Alas there is more and more software that does not work with older versions of windows. What does XP do that Windows 2000 doesnt? Threading? Couldn't threading have been added to Windows 2000 as a Service Pack? It is a shame that the newer version of Windows can't be implemented as service packs rather than as a new framework that requires reinstallation of all ones software.

On the other hand, the 64 bit version of Windows 7 may be worth upgrading to. One can use lots and lots of memory (up about 30GB with 64bit as opposed to 3GB with 32bit?).

Not the most creative name a multibillion value company could come up with.

Did Microsoft ever improve on their DOS OS? Personally, I try to avoid as much contact with Microsoft as I can. Not easy, I must admit, but I try.

As an upgrade: No way!

Except for the Windows 7 burger, I haven't seen much of it.

It's pretty good, though still with the myriad unexplained background processes you always get with windows.

I like Windows XP.

Can be purchased in some places in China for JPY 65. Dirt cheap!
