Being a western democratic invention to find out the state of sportsmanship overall.

How many nations to attend and enjoy those efforts?

I'm sure it will be well organized and professional.

I have zero interest in winter sports, snow and ice are things to avoid!

It will be the most amount of money ever spent on a puppet show in history.

As interesting as puppet shows can be, I will be boycotting this one as I don’t support genocide and repression.

It will probably be limited to Chinese spectators only. For everyone complaining about their treatment of Xinjiangers, I would point out that the Chinese have treated many other groups similarly, and the Muslims themselves discriminate widely against other groups (Qatar World Cup for example?)

Some might not know, but the strict one-child policy (which is no longer in force) was only applied to the majority ethnic Han, and was never applied to ethnic minorities. Just saying. And unlike Russia, there has never been wide-spread abuse and killing of gays, and I hope it stays that way, but who knows.

Not worth watching.

Beijing Winter Olympics would be held under strict martial law and curfew due to coronavirus. Probably if athletes go out to convenient stores to buy food/alcohol or hang around city in night, they would be shot as spy or arrested in jail until all games are over. So many security cameras in streets are always watching all people. No freedom in China. Watch out!

Boycott them!

Apparently with less women athletes from few/some/most/all (pick one) Islamic countries.

Ahmadullah Wasiq, reportedly the Taliban's deputy head of the Taliban's cultural commission told SBS News that "sport is not seen as something that is important for women," and that "women won’t be allowed to play cricket or any other sport." Quoting SBS, "He said Islam allowed women to go out on a needs basis such as for shopping. Sport is not considered a need."

Keeps getting more tragic by the hour.

No worse than the Tokyo Olympics.

Will watch skating. Nothing else and filter out commercials, even though commercial times are good to cook, use the facilities and to do the wash. And a good time to put on make-up and send and read email and of course read JT.

Heavily censored.

I like to watch the girls do skating things. So cute and very toned. Definitely the best part for men.

Crowded, snowy, cold, commercialized, expensive, surveillance and security everywhere, Olympic, CCP and Xi banners, flags, paroles…and maybe some unimportant side winter sports or competitions at a few places. lol

Cold

The Games without spectators is likely due to the winter-driven corona waves.

I'm interested in seeing how Beijing will handle "political" messages conveyed by winning athletes. Political gestures were conditionally allowed and exhibited in the Tokyo Games. Performed on live, one can't turn off the camera.

Many Winnie the Pooh figures are thrown into the ice rink for celebration after Hanyu Yuzuru, Japanese top figure skater finishes performance. This ritual should be kept.

I look forward to the opening ceremony.

But I hope it's largely boycotted.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Heavily censored, with pro-CCP propaganda lining every square inch and every moment possible during the event. I'm also betting that if the pandemic still persists during that time, China will push the event regardless and just let its people bear the brunt of it all.

Boring Except for the curling.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Boycott it.

A movement to abolish Olympics, which forgot about it's ideals, and is a resource-wasting and corruption-creating business should be established by true sportsmen and sport educators.

Words fail me.
