I recommend exercise, especially walking. Tire the body and it will want to get rest. I live, and sleep very well by it.

Bottle of Red wine with a nice dinner of your choice, then triple vodka's with a splash of orange juice and a bag of potato chips until you can't walk to make another drink (5 usually does the trick). Have a pint of water then pass out.

Well...you asked.

exercise, a healthy diet, mainly veggies meal, no land meats +IF you are a little sickie, a small can of guinness stout. (I remember when all male patients in the once operating Ughk NHS hospitals were offered a smalll bottle b4 lights out), maybe it enhanced sleep and patient recovery?

Nothing really, specially not alcohol that has been proved to cause bad sleep, if anything it would be more important to abstain from stimulants and alcohol for a few hours before sleeping, the rest would be just to get a routine so sleep comes more easily.

Best not to eat or drink except water 2-3 hours before sleep. No smartphone use 1 hour before sleep.

Thank you, that had me chuckling over my breakfast mug of tea!

A spot of tea with a slice of toast. It's not too heavy on the stomach and it's comforting.

Laudanum.

Warm milk with a bit of butter and glycine.

Alcohol helps falling asleep, but messes up the sleep quality.

Anything that helps you feel relaxed... and maybe that isn't caffeinated.

Water, ice cold.
