Deal is the wrong word, spank is much better .

Don't conduct military drills close to their U.N. drawn border and continue to let them languish under their own stupid dictatorship. Eventually the people will rise and overthrow the system, appointing me as the new leader and my portrait will be everywhere. Then through cheaper than China manufacturing I will introduce 50 yen stores in Japan, outmuscling their expensive 100 yen cousins. Everybody wins.

Embrace NK With Open Arms ! No prejudice - No discrimination !

The way it dealt with Saddam.KJI and Saddam are both dictators, they both posess weapons for mass destruction, they both starve and kill their own people and threaten the peace in the region.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sasoriza..where have you been these past 10 years? Weapons of mass destruction was fabricated to justify war in Iraq.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I wonder if we show the NK people the truth they will still support their leader. Surely there must be people who doubt his leadership when they are starving to death?

The U.S. went into iraq on the lie of WMD now this Ill person Kim has WMD confrimed this time the U.S. should go take him and his band of dottery old cronies out. For the U.S. to do nothing is hypocrisy, but maybe because Kim did not threaten the presidents father they will do nothing.

How do you deal with a petulent 5 year old child? The same way the world needs to deal with ill Kim, discipline!!!

I don't think a straightout invasion of North Korea would work. There's no way that country could be made "democratic" quickly, it would have to be interal.

Knocking out military targets is another matter. I'm sure there are contingency plans for a variety of scenarios on both sides.

In the meantime, continue treating North Korea as the outcast it is.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Do nothing.

Dealing with North Korea means understanding that their system -- as much as they try to convey otherwise -- is inherently unstable and could slip into chaos. Left on its own, its system will certainly collapse on itself.

The best model I can think of for that country is the former "Jonestown" enclave in Guyana. Dealing with a psychotic regime means having to handle them with kid gloves -- unless one doesn't care about thousands upon thousands of innocent people losing their lives.

1st choice: Tactical Nuke - one BIG one. IF aimed properly...

2nd choice: Nah - there is no viable alternative. Just go ahead with the nuke already.

Are you saying the USA is the World Police?

I thought that was just a movie!

Cut off aid - there's no way a war is going to start.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Rabid dogs should be put down.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Pressure the country that enables them, China.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The global community is not one voice - that is the issue. China and the US for example have their own interests and goals vis a vis NKorea.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Either do something or do nothing, all this wishy washy in between didn't lead anywhere.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Let them collapse as they inevitably will. Only problem is China supporting them....

Are you saying the USA is the World Police?

I thought that was just a movie!

Of course they are the world police and have been for years, time they busted this sorry arse place called NK

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Attack them? Ok. But what will China do. They are the wild card in all of this.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's all about money. No country wants to commit itself to wiping out Big Kim and his band of delusional militants and then have to deal with what is left of NK. There will never be any compromising with NK and they are steadily getting worse. Now, they have many nuclear weapons and I have no doubt this lunatic will not hesitate to launch one or more if he wakes up with a bad hangover. Clearly the tactics used and sanctions placed on NK over the last 50 odd years have done nothing besides aggravate Big Kim and brainwash the NKns into believing the whole world is against them. Some have hinted this attack was to introduce has son to the world spotlight, Big Kim the 2nd, in preparation of taking over NK desert and all its starving people. - Could be time for much stronger tactics before this loon takes out half a dozen cities in Asia.

1) Pay china to look the other way and take them out. 2) Pay the UN committe to declare war on NK 3) Joint military cruise missle strike, air strike for 20 days on NK, this means Jpan, Phillipines, Aussies, US of A,SK and etc. 4) tHEN PROCEED ground troops

Real question is can the USA go for a full-out war on anotgher front right now?

That includes Troops, Equipment, Money, etc without jeopardizing their other fronts.

I reckon they could muster it all but it would be burden on the economy and might need a reinstatement of the Drat to do it. And I guess many guys here calling for another war would not be too happy to get called up to fight ol Kim.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Do nothing and continue to ignore N.Korea.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Leave them alone.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Snipers...aimed at the big guys. Once they are gone perhaps the people will be more willing to look beyong the propaghanda they have been fed and possibly even begin a better life.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Blame the USA.

The only real way to deal with NK is to make its only supporter realize that it would be in its best interest to get rid of the insane back and forth BS, that means hitting China by making things difficult for China to do business with the rest of the world by pulling some nice tactics out of their own play book Just a bit in reverse like holding up bank transfers to China and increasing inspection on all Chinese goods entering Japan and the west of course just like China and NK Japan and the west will deny all these actions are "official" and just part of a new system.

After China sees that supporting these nut jobs in NK is hurting them they just might take the direct military route that they have done in the past on other neighbors.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ignore it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The key is PRC. Sanctions are the best way to discipline DPRK, but they don't work unless PRC plays ball.

DPRK is sitting there shelling and killing SK civilians on SK soil, and all PRC can say is "everyone needs to stay rational". PRC is laughing its ass off over this - it immediately becomes another reason the west has to kow-tow to them to get them to help, making them feel important. I wouldn't be surprised if PRC knew about this whole murderous stunt before it happened.

Peace

How dare some demonic elements destry the lives of poor innocent? seriously, that thing should not be allowed to live a second more. Use the most expensive high tech sniper to aim at that ugly forehead. My heart is with the SK innocent people.

"Call in Duke Nuke Em!!"

HAIL to the king, baby!

Things are just getting worse for NK. I think the key is to figure out what NK wants, and just do the opposite.... every time. That's why I said "do nothing" above. NK wants a reaction. It wants recognition. It wants to negotiate and get something.

Knowing that, the best thing to do is let them stew. Give the spoiled child a time-out. Let them eat thin potato soup and cabbage for the 15th winter in a row.

If anyone wants to see what the DPRK is all about, put GOOGLEEARTH on your monitor and have a good look. The DPRK is a whole lot of nothing. Just nothing. If there is a lovely spot you can see from a satellite, rest assured that it is used by the highest of officials. You can find more goods in a 7-11 a block away than you can in an average NK town, I would bet. Have a look.

Worrying about them is a waste of time. Especially when they want you to.

The best way to deal with North Korea... Treat them the way they are conducting themselves. A criminal state that has no value of human life whatsoever, has no need or function in today's civilized world. North Korea should be removed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Appeasement all the way!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If you really want to see what the world is up against google VBS.TV vise guide to north Korea (in multiple parts) it is absolutely shocking to see how the controls are so strict that anything China may do in state controls in amateurish compared to NK.

After watching this then come back and make your comments on what to do.

Best way is to neutralize their leadership.

It's so ridiculous that a nation of only 23 million can't even feed itself. Funny how 2 Communist nations took completely different paths, and look at the outcome. China, which is still in a market oriented transition, and North Korea, locked in a Stalinist time warp. China is now the #2 economy in the world, and North Korea is the world basket case.

Amazing documentary, man. Thank you.

@Antonios_M,

If you think that was something then you should see "North Korean Film Madness" it a VBS.TV continuation and has some amazing information concerning kidnappings and more cult of Kim Jong Il.

Once you see what these people are taught and shown then you may all have a better understanding what and why the NK people don't rise up and why nothing we say or do will mean anything to them.

If you think NK is a problem now, wait till it has successfully developed its nuclear weapons program. Presently, NK has nothing of significant value to export to generate hard currency; however, a nuclear weapons program would be a different story and that is why I do not believe NK would give up its pursuit of nuclear weapons. You can have as much negotiations as you want and give NK as much aids as it wants, but in the end, NK will continue to work on its nuclear weapons program.

I do not believe NK would have any second thoughts about exporting its nuclear weapons program to any country willing to pay for it. Imagine a nuclear armed Venezuela, Burma, etc.

Talk and appease NK all you want now, the problem would just get bigger and more difficult to resolve later.

Does anyone know why (whose decision was it) South Korea was conducting military drills near North's border?

How do you deal with a petulent 5 year old child? The same way the world needs to deal with ill Kim, discipline!!!

WHAT a flippin idiotic statement if there ever was one. So, bomb them? I read in one finanicial newspaper that this would bring about chaos in the financial markets throughout the world. What? Another depression is what you want? Then the refugees. The entire country fleeing from a MASSIVE artillary assault. So, what have 30 million refugees in my city of Kitakyushu and another 10 million in Fukuoka, and another 20 million in Shimonoseki? Is that your idea of a solution? Easy to say discipline, isn't it right-winger? But when you have to pay and suffer for the consequences, it ain't so easy!

OMG. Like they will go around and just blow up countries each and every year because they have nothing else to do. Listen you right-wingers. The rule is this! Use a nuke and then die by a a hundred nukes. It is really a useless weapon as it can never be used unless you like suicide.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Improve defense weapons. Something that can intercept a missile as soon as it is shot. Build a huge wall or a dome that is invisible :) and can block any missile from entering the South.

Selling its nuclear weapons program to another country is not the same as dropping a nuke on another country. Learn to read and comprehend.

I am watching the VBS.TV thing right now. REALLY good. thanks for that. I am confused about 1 thing. They have tours that go to North Korea. Americans can even fly to North Korea. Japanese people go all the time!!! I heard about school in tokyo who have ties with NK and take their SCHOOL TRIP to North Korea. I am confused. I have some websites saying no one can go to north korea and then I have people and website that tell me people go there all the time and you can book a tour. they have a yearly event that tons of people go see and a war museum that is suppose to be really cool (but a little one sided) for real. Here is a website booking tours to North Korea. koryogroup dot com

I think the response from SK is almost the best: 80 shells ( it should be 175 shells comparing with 170 shells from NK )with promise much more severe measure if NK continues to attack. To a nuclear- armed country like NK, all poor, all thoroughly brainwashed, all fanatic, absolutely nothing to lose... the West can do nothing but measured responses only, case by case.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The only peaceful solution I can imagine is if:

a) the US, China and Japan provide funds to SK for pay the cost of the reunification

b) we offer guarantees to China that united Korea is not going to host any US troops and remain neutral from US and China

But we have huge debts problems and China don't trust the US, so these is very unlikely to happen. Then we must to expend more money in ballistic missile defense because the lack of reaction give to Kim idea that he can kill with absolute impunity thanks to China's protection, so next the attack can be even bigger and target japanese civilians with missiles for demand more oil and food.

To Kujirankusuki- Those tours to North Korea are just that: carefully conducted tours under strict guard, where visitors can't step off the path or touch anything or even try to communicate with the locals. Of course the one thing they can do liberally is spend money! I've heard that in some of these official tour areas the "Death To America" posters have been covered superficially with Dear Leader's smiling mug. I've read that even some of the walls are fake.

What to do about NK? Well, I guess everyone hopes for a revolution from within but any people's uprising would get crushed immediately and I'm guessing any coup d'tat would replace one despot with another. I look at Kim Jong's son and I see another 40 years of the same (I've read conflicting reports about him being better or worse than his dad). I agree with the above posters that say the answer lay with China- the world has to pressure them into disassociation. Either that or get China to find a way to get NK back to the table.

@kujiranikusuki:

If I understand the order of thing VSB.TV original plan was to visit the flim studio and that part they finally did as shown in "North Korean Film Madness" but due to the way NK works what they thought would be a trip to the film studio ended up being what we see in " vise guide to north Korea" as I understand the Film studio is not on any of the controlled tours.

Anyway these 2 productions sort of give us all an idea of what the world is up against and how handling NK is not as easy as some may think.

Basically China's little Frankenstein has now become uncontrollable even for China and I fear that the more nukes they get the more bold their attacks will get and the more demands they will make even from China.

If so I am wondering how China will handle it and if force by China will be the only final option.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If there is such a thing as a "global community" then obviously NK is a part of it. Otherwise it wouldnt be a global community would it?

Oh Nimbus, I sit at thy feet and try to learn from thee. Hey, fool, selling nuclear weapons is as stupid as using them because that will soon earn you a spot in the other dimension too, as will the blackmailers who try to use it. In the end, I think the issue is that rightwingers like to have some profiling, some stickers, yellow, or whatever color, on those people who they think might be two or three degrees or four degrees associated to those who might get the bomb. In the end, using war or any violence against a crazy person who has the bomb will in the end prove that he will use the bomb. So, bye, bye financial market. Nice to know you. Bye bye to concepts like stable currency. Bye bye to a stable and safe food supply (at least in Asia). All because of what? Your flippin fear?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Well at this point it's hard to say what to do. Although one thing is for certain. The longer we let North Korea build up it's Nuclear program, the worse it will be latter on. Here is another thing to consider. China likely doesn't want a unified Korea! NK is China's counterweight proving they can keep them under control. So it is really in their best interest to defuse this situation before both end up with something they don't want, a unified democratic Korea. Not to mention that having a increased military presence in the South China Sea as some have mentioned is not what China wants. Military drills will still take place along with the USS George Washington this Sunday. This no doubt will infuriate the north but they would be fools to try to pull anything. If indeed this was a political maneuver by the north in conjunction with the transitioning of power. It really then is against all reason for them to pursue this any further.

In doing so will only bring more suffering and isolation to a country already on the brink. What is so sad about all this is that there is so much for NK to gain if it would only see that. South Korea is the only developed country outside Japan so far to have been included in the group of "Next Eleven" countries. It hosts the second largest modern city in the world next to Tokyo. It is among the most technically advanced and growing economies in all of Asia. South Korea was one of the few developed countries that was able to avoid a recession during the global financial crisis, and its economic growth rate is at at a respectable 6.1% this year alone. NK dear leader is no different then all dictators of his type. They care nothing for their own people and use manipulation, fear and propaganda to control the populace. The best hope we have is that China reins them in. Otherwise we are going to have a situation which could quickly turn ugly real fast.
