Just look at Justin Trudeau. That's your definition. In bold, ugly print.

Having a statement tattoo about a certain current event

Just about everything these days. smh...

I want to get rid of the masks. But being a foreigner and the looks of utter disdain I would get are preventing me from doing so.

Definition ? Someone showing people something.

Examples : Using woke in a sentence, civvies carrying guns, overuse of national flags and not wearing a mask in the peak of a global pandemic.

A definition? Making a statement not necessarily because it's the morally right thing to do or because you actually understand an issue to any great depth, but doing so to gain the approval of your peers. It's mainly a left wing thing, but religious types can be guilty of it as well.

Examples:

JexanToday  07:54 am JST

Mask wearing, posting of nations flags on Instagram (I stand with_____), BLM shirts, political stickers on your car.

Plus, bragging about how many covid vaccines you've had, and denouncing someone you don't like as racist or a conspiracy theorist.

Just do it. Sure, some people will get upset, but plenty will admire your courage, and maybe it'll inspire them to do the same.

Ooh my aching sides.

The propagandist nature of every advert, voiceover, narration and plot line on UK TV, and all the changes of presenter. It makes North Korean propaganda look subtle.

posting of nations flags on Instagram

Patriotism is the first example that comes into my head along with religion when it comes to virtue-signaling.

Standing in front of scores of flags is worse than posting flags on social media. Actually hugging a flag is beyond virtue-signaling. That’s just creepy.

I’d say the extremes on the left and the right fight it out for the virtue-signaling silver. The conspiracy theorists like a bit of virtue-signaling but they can’t be taken seriously.

The sanctimonious religious types are gold medalists by some distance.

Putting on your Sunday Best to go to church ahd show it off, along with your vitrue.

@Algernon

Thank you for your kind words. I'm not the most tolerant of people and the wrong look or word would set me off. Not a good trait but it's who I am. Better to just play the game until the other layers get bored.

VS is an unintelligent term to mock kind acts or the encouragement thereof.

Plus, bragging about how many covid vaccines you've had

And also bragging that you've had no covid vaccines. If the intent is to show your "good character" to someone, then I guess it's virtue signaling.

Putting Ukraine flags on Facebook pages.

I don’t virtue signal. That’s for narcissistic Republicans. Liberated people like us are better than that.

Honorable mention maybe?

Patriotism is the first example that comes into my head along with religion when it comes to virtue-signaling.

Its entertaining watching leftists try to re-define what the entire world (including them) knows as fact.

Wokeism is feature unique to the left and no one else.

They identify what is the current thing/cause that the mainstream media are behind and latch onto it.

Which is why these 2 examples above are so risible.

What are two things that the left and most media despise? Patriotism and Religion. They are Kryptonite to the left. Try announcing you are a patriotic Christian at a San Francisco/New York/London etc. house party.

Karen will ask you to leave within seconds.

Almost always a huge cause that seeks to re-organize society in a major way. Almost always with disastrous outcomes like the unthinking mob of virtue-signalers are realizing with Ukraine now.

Wokeism is nothing but a way for leftists to avoid making any meaningful headway in their own personal lives, but at the same time take pseudo-moralistic stances on large scale social issues so that they look good to their friends and neighbors.

George Orwell. All animals and equal but some animals are more equal.

American politicians heralding their own self-diagnosed Christianity whilst simultaneously enacting laws entirely antithetical to what Christ taught.

They're the modern-day equivalent of the Pharisees and Sadducees whom Christ publicly reviled.

The same with Televangelists, preying upon the gullible to fund their private jets.

"And He said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves."

Wrapping oneself in the flag as an alternative to having any meaningful position beyond stuffing your pockets and those of your Eton/ Ivy League buddies with taxpayers' cash.

LDP lawmakers poncing through Yasukuni on our dime with the clear intention of riling up Japan's neighbours, so that they can say, "You see? They hate Japan, so you must keep voting for us, since we are patriotic".

ted cruz announcing his ‘pronouns’.

Correct - only one of which was a pronoun, in order to cement his hold over the rubes and schills who fall for his sheeyite.

The man who jetted off to the Cancun Ritz, leaving his state - and even his own dog - to freeze, then blamed his weakness on his own daughters. The man who dedicates his life to spitpolishing the tiny syphilitic membrum virile of the man who called his wife ugly makes a point of showing the world he wears cowboy boots and expects us to consider him a rootin' tootin' cowpoke.

All show and no substance.

Saying something to gain approval of an audience in order to deflect attention from actions that would attract their disapproval.

Typically pandering to an audience in close proximity while doing bad things far away.

When the Democrats drop the same bombs as the Republicans to kill innocent people in countries which USA doesn't like, but they put rainbow flags and BLM messages on the bombs.
