According to Trump, the definition of Fake News is any news story that disagrees with him.

Just a a new name for something that has always been with us, often used by people who hope to stifle free speech rights, silence opposition and bring in absolute censorship.

Propaganda. From any source. A word most people seem to have not remembered or learned.

I use several news sources from around the world. A practice everyone should have. One quickly learns what is "fake" news. Or to use the correct word, propaganda.

Not to be confused with just plain poor reporting. There is plenty of that as well.

90% of what’s in the mainstream media.

One of Trump's greatest tricks is co-opting the term "fake news". Originally, it was used to describe intentionally planted, misleading news stories in places like Facebook (remember the Macedonian news farms from the 2016 elections?)

But Trump, noticing that it was a nice, short, and to the point phrase, turned around and used the term as a way try and discredit mainstream news that he doesn't like personally. By doing so, if everything else is "fake news", then only he can be the arbiter or "real news". It's a real clever, but simple, trick.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Although, sometimes, I swear, that ake looks like ox.

Here's another word and its definition:

Alternative facts: lies which I wish were true.

Unsubstantiated or wildly selective reporting, rumor, blatant lies.

Basically anything from News Corp/Fox, most politicians, infotainment

Oddly propaganda is not always fake news, also selective or biased opinion spun into shape.

I notice how many people here deride fake news according to Trump as being anything he disagrees with. Then they go on to say fake news is anything they disagree with themselves.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Anything that pretends to provide unbiased information, but which in fact is lying or distorting facts to pursue an agenda; i.e., all western MSM.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Wilful and deliberate dissemination of information known to be false or misleading.

Intentional hit pieces, like what the media does on a daily basis to Trump or anyone in his circle. AG Barr got slimed by NBC the other day were a video was editier, that’s just one story, and too many to tell. They certainly don’t have to agree with the president, but they don’t have to take it run a Jihad on him either.
