Netflix and HBO Go does it for my family, it has a lot of movies and series. But IMO, the smaller services and the ones with limited selections will not survive for long since they're just riding the boom of this streaming service and once it mellows down, the ones that will survive are those with the most to offer.
Abema is quite good. They have also previews and trailers, so you don’t have to pay if you probably won’t like it, they also have a good free area in every genre, of course more older movies but sometimes a few pearls can be found. And of course they covered the FIFA soccer World Cup very professional. Many thanks for that and my thumbs up for Abema. Others don’t even let you in for a sneak preview when not registered.
Worldwide, Netflix. Disney+ pretty good here in Japan too as includes quite a lot of stuff from HULU US (Disney owned) - Hulu here is terrible (TBS owned). HBO MAX from the US is very, very good. Apple TV+ is starting to push out some good content.
Abema? Are you serious? Load of old rubbish. World Cup in Japanese only, when you could stream from the BBC or FOX in UHD?
Prime Video is about half the price as it is in the US so it's relatively cheap esp. since it comes packaged together with Amazon Prime. Netflix has a better selection but Prime isn't too far behind and it seems to be getting better.
None of them. I whole idea of cable (now streaming) was that you paid them instead of having to endure commercials. Some streaming channels have 6 or more commercials in a row.
I refuse to pay for digital media. It a overprice industry earning mostly from Adverts. I watch NHK on YouTube and cost nil. It a rarity for me to watch movies even if free. I dislike the industry like a atheist does religion. The whole concept of the industry disgust me. From Idol worship and the influence on community life. So I stick to Youtube content makers of my choosing not some media group wanting me to feed from their advertisement troth fill with popularism and woke flavour oats.
From my limited experience with only Netflix, Prime and Disney, Netflix is way above. I only use Netflix now.
For less than the price of 1 cinema admission ticket per month, I have access to a wealth of content across many genres. Movies, Series, Documentaries etc from a multitude of countries.
Also available on multiple devices - my youngest daughter uses the same service in another city.

Prime is great in Japan but only if you use a VPN. Otherwise, it is garbage (since you can't use closed captions not turn off Japanese subtitles).
Netflix has the most variety and has the best settings (subtitles, closed captions and languages).

Really depends on what you like to watch. Netflix and Disney+ does me a treat as does BBC iPlayer.

Cost is a non-factor.
