Ben Harper. He was never the same after he met Jack Johnson and started playing standing up. Circa Diamonds on the Inside.

Never had that problem. Don't listen to anything I don't like.

Most of them.

I think a more interesting question would be 'Which artist has sustained your interest throughout their career ?'

It narrows the field somewhat.

Nick Cave, Peter Gabriel, Bjork, Kool Keith off the top of my head.

I agree, can’t think of really anyone, but I’m more of a serious musician professionally and socially and I tend to scrutinize all the crappy ones and weed them out

The Smiths....

Can’t think of too many. I liked U2 as a kid ( War and the Unforgettable Fire ) but I think the main reason I lost interest was because Bono is such an arse. New Year’s Day and A Sort of Homecoming still classics though.

Nice one. R.E.M. for me. Been buying their albums for decades.

It is a bit paint your bedroom walls black.

Great guitar work though.

Shocking

Limp Bizkit. They fell off the side of the round earth. Should have taken the Spice Girls along for the one-way ride.

Milli Vanilli.

Looking at the artists listed above, I realize that I'm old, man. Some of the acts I used to like but now no longer listen to are: Mozart (I'm not that old), Buffy St. Marie, Junko Onishi, John Prine, and Courtney Barnett. There are more if I think about it, and there are gobs I never listened to in the first place and gobs I still like, but these are the ones that come to mind.

So much music I used to listen to is about beta males whining over love, breakups, etc. After the long hard trenches of marriage I have no interest in that anymore.

I used to like the Eagles as a kid but since they regrouped and did absolutely nothing but put out one double CD of insipid pop-country-rock and steal money for their shows (they started that extremely ugly trend. Glenn Frey said, 'We think $100 is a good price to see us perform'); I say the hell with them. They never said much to me lyrically-wise, I never truly felt they said anything about my life or how I feel. But now they are nothing to me.

Kenny Loggins was the 'King of Soundtracks' when I was growing up and as a young man in the 80s but he doesn't mean doodley squat to me now. It's just a case of 'yesterday' or 'so what?'. I don't care anymore.

I don't listen to much Billy Joel now. Never was big on that piano stuff, I like my rock more electric. And Elton John doesn't do much for me either. He hasn't done anything I give a hoot about since 1990.

I never cared much for the stuff Jim Steinman did as a producer or writer but now he makes me utterly grossly sick. If I see a CD that lists him as a producer, I don't want to listen to it. He's the Antichrist of Rock'n'Roll.

Paul Young doesn't groove me much now. So what if he can cover a zillion soul classics? So can Phil Collins and while Phil is not a 'Soul Man' vocal-wise, he doesn't 'whiten' the music up either.

Green Day put punk into the mainstream but now I find them to be juvenile and disgusting. Can't stand them now.

There's a lot of bands from the 80s that wrote about teenage issues and high school stuff and I quicky outgrew it. A lot of dance acts and 'Hi NRG' that came out in the late 80s never were much to me then, now there are even less.

Many of those dime-a-dozen glam metal bands from the 80s - 90s mean nothing now. I still listen to Leppard, Halen, NWOBHM like Maiden, Priest, and speed metal like Motorhead. I liked a few Madonna songs but now she disgusts me in every manner. My first concert was by Foreigner but now only their 1979 - 1988 stuff means anything to me. My second show was by Loverboy, they mean nothing to me now. Teeny stuff. Toto = yesterday's news.

I still listen to Duran Duran, Genesis, U2, Midnight Oil, Ziggy Marley, Kool and the Gang, Huey Lewis, 38 Special and such. They're relevant and marl milestones in my life. But I have expanded my horizons as well, as everyone should - and I have rediscovered some 'old gold' such as Kraftwerk and Roxy Music.
