Jimmy McNulty in The Wire (one of the most brillant TV show ever)

Vic Mackey in The Shield (as good as The Wire)

Since those 2 TV series ended, I did not find any great cop TV show.

Not sure if it qualifies as a "cop" TV show, but Magnum P.I. is about the only one I watched regularly, same goes with Grissom and C.S.I. Las Vegas (not Miami or New York).

Movies: "In the Heat of the Night" 1967, both Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger.

Also, Jackie Gleason in "Smokey and the Bandit" as Buford T. Justice: "[to his son] There's no way, no way that you came from my loins. Soon as I get home, first thing I'm gonna do is punch yo mamma in da mouth!"

Taggart.

And, because he is in the news, Nick Conklin (as played by Michael Douglas) in Black Rain.

On Japanese TV: Toyama no Kinsan, Onihei Hankacho, Ooka Echizen, Zenigata Heiji and of course the Col. Sanders look-alike, Mito Komon.

Jack Regan

Regan: "put them away, love... your boyfriend's nicked!"

Robocop

Good to see some appreciate Jack Regan. Clint was cool, but the sight of the late, great John Thaw sprinting down the street out of breath in flares and a kipper tie trying to nick someone is one of my fondest childhood memories.

"Book him, Danno." McGarrett from Hawaii Five-O. The original, that is. Jack Lord was ultracool.

Andy Griffith and Barney Fife FTW! :p

Brit cop dramas do a great job with female cops. Helen Mirren (Prime Suspect), Gillian Anderson (The Fall), Kelly Reilly (Above Suspicion). Any of these.

Kommissar Rex.

"Robocop"

Dang, I forgot all about him!

TV reporter: Robocop, do you have any message for the children of the city?

Robocop ( looking straight at the camera ): Stay out of trouble.
