It's a tie, first-place, for....all of them.

Toru Hashimoto.

SANMA!!!! He's always screaming while talking!

I can't stand Murakami from Fruits Punch.

Pretty much all of them besides Cream Stew.

I turned off the Japanese TV a few years ago, so have no idea who is popular at the moment, but that gay guy who would lie on the ground and show his anus to people was pretty annoying.

I have to agree with the comment about Sanma-san. He can be funny, but that voice is sooooooo annoying.

Without a doubt ... Sanma. There are others ... but he tops the list ...

I can't decide between Abe, Ishihara or Hashimoto.

None of them make me laugh.

It's funny everybody saying that about sanma- he's the only guy who I think is actually ever funny.

After him, I agree with the "it's a first place tie for everybody".

I found the guy who always painted a face around his belly button and would ejaculate some stupid katakana English word upon showing said belly (and his partner) to be especially grating tho.

I got cable 2 yrs ago, tho, and I hain't watched the Japanese channels since, though.

Sanma - without a doubt for me too! Nasty opinions. Followed by Beat Takeshi, who's saving grace that at least he tries to something creative, whether you like it or not.

"Toru Hashimoto"

He's not a comedian.

He's not a comedian.

Yah. He is.

beat takeshi-

Is he even a comedian? I only know he is cuz they always say so on TV. But all I ever see him do is sit there.

@Lowly He is no spring chicken anymore, but he started out as a comedian and was in a Manzai duo. I don't know how he sees himself now.

i left japan in 2009... uh, Sekai no Nabeatsu?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

cowcow, with their stupid Atarimae Taiso schtick. Because stating things that are common knowledge = comedy!

Yeah, I know. I've seen a few scratchy old tapes once in awhile. He looked pretty normal (=normal manzai, not special).

Now-- maybe avant garde abstract impressiionist funny? He just hosts these shows, doesn't talk much, then has a small corner where he says some weird barely comprehensible, something and that's the end. Did I miss the joke? Or was there one? Was that the joke?

I can't keep track of the katakana names with their weird opposites of something or garbled Eng. Cream This, and Black That, Mayonaise Mustard & Pickles.

@borax : Oh yeah good pick, those two are just crap scooped off the gutters.

The bloke with the big rubber baseball bat or club or whatever that is all over the TV always. and always shouting and looking like soneone just told him about life on Mars. Is he Sanma?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

There are no real comedians in Japan. There are unfunny slapstick artists; a-holes with one crap joke they say all the time until they disappear; and unfunny old men who people think are hilarious because they've managed to have their unfunny one joke last decades.

So the answer is nobody. Because there are no comedians here.

So what category does Bakarhythm fall under?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Beat Takeshi.... he's actually a pretty interesting person and has won many awards but he perpetuates the bully mentality in Japan. Over the years his shows have put more people in the hospital than the flu.
