He is capable to do it and could also be a bracket for the partie’s internal factions as well the different generations and interest groups in the society as a whole.

Out of the ones put forward so far, Kono. He speaks fluent English and has lived abroad. He has a more international outlook than the likes of Ishibe.

A woman would also be good to have as PM, but I don't think that will happen in Japan until about 2150.
