 "oil-like" blobs; substance

Or,

OIL.

My surfer friends on Amami-Oshima said they have oil in the water along their beaches.

I don't think the Japanesechinese government should be downplaying this as it can be really hazardous to those in the water.

Yes, I read about blobs washing up on the beaches of Amami Oshima a couple of days ago. Actually when the ship was still afloat there were fears then that it was drifting slowly in that direction, so after sinking it would make sense that the current should carry the stuff that way. Disgusting. A sad indictment of us all.

This tanker went down days ago. Where is the news of massive clean up operations, oil absorbent material, oil booms. Your basic oil pollution emergency preparedness. You can’t handle nuclear, given. But oil pollution is something basic. My apologies if sincere efforts have been in, but not reported or reported but I missed.

puregaijin, several Chinese vessels and one from Japan and Korea have been constantly working at the surface slick(s). The light condensate is very thin and much has evaporated. The tanks of thick oil for the ship's engines is the stuff people have been really concerned about. That is probably what is starting to wash up. The Chinese are preparing to further investigate the wreck down at the seabed.

Sadly none of this has been reported on much in the mainstream press and updates have been near non-existent, or not at all easy to find here. You have to look at Chinese news sources etc.

I read about this on Monday, including maps, showing the potential spread. I warned one of my students from Miyazaki to watch out for it. It is strange that it didn't get the attention it needs.

An oil tanker explodes and sinks and then, there is surprise about oil washing up on beaches in the general area? Wow! What a surprise that i, NOT! And, what did the Japanese government do about it? Bugger all of course! They did studies predicting where the oil would wash up but did nothing about stopping it. Now, it is washing up on beaches and the still have not made any plans to clean it up. It will be left to local volunteers and GreenPeace to clean it up. Japan is very good at taking from the sea, but very poor at taking care of it.

"Our fear is that it might increase over time, well iam sorry that you might have to have a bit of over time, don't you think its worth it when it affects lively hoods, especially when they are dependent on catching fish? and the fishing industry needs to be protected. what I would like to know was there any monitoring of the stricken oil tanker for oil spillage?

My brother told me it is lovely there. National Park and crystal clear waters, and part of an application for World Heritage status, I have heard. Perhaps publicity might be embarrassing?

As others stated - Oil like Blobs = Oil.

After watching a morning wide show report on this, those "blobs" couldn't be anything else but Oil.

100% - no Blobs about it.

Strange there hasn't been more ongoing daily reports from the mainstream media and frequent govt announcements. Why?
