One team? I dont believe I heard that buzzword as much as I heard "victory road".

Hooked on sumo?
sourpuss
Jimizo, it’s a late 60s early 70s song famously covered by Blue Swede.

I don't get how Kutoo made it on the list, it was a very short-lived thing that ended up accomplishing nothing.
BeerDeliveryGuy
“NHK wo bukkowasu” should’ve made the list.
smithinjapan
Extremely lame choices this year, especially #KuToo, since most people can't pronounce "too" but would say "Tsu" when reading it, as well as how it minimises a serious movement.

Quite rightly, the photograph shows Japans Rugby team proudly posing with the countries national flag, and not the countries naval ensign.
They are one team representing Japan, not the Navy.
Wakarimasen
One Team is just weak. Were the other countries fielding more than One? Were the other teams not united?
itKuToo also a bit lame. As said above, has essentially disappeared without a trace.
Ex - what has the naval ensign got to do with this?

The Rugby World Cup was really a rehearsal for next years Olympics. Lets hope that the host country recognises the difference between Japans national flag, and Japans Naval Ensign.
Wakarimasen
Still not sure what you are trying to say. do any of Japan's sports teams use the naval ensign? Does anyone in Japan - apart from right wingers - routinely use that old flag?
redelmotalking
"One Team" is essentially a piece of Japlish. Doesn't really make sense if you think about it too much.

I have recently found that, if I say to somebody displaying the Naval Ensign flag "Oh, you are in the SDF Navy. What ship are you onboard," they look at me blank.

I don't do "buzzwords." Too copycatty and conformist.
When did it become "cool" to do all the same things -- like say the same words, wear "hipster" glasses, grow big bushy beards, get tattoos, and so on -- as everyone else?
Being "cool" used to mean being different, an individualist. Now it seems to mean just being a copycatting drone.
bearandrodent
Jenni- agree 100%. Being cool today means “belonging to some trending cause” as opposed to being yourself regardless of what others think.
Strangerland
Yeah just look at Dave Chappelle. Going on and on about trending causes, and never being himself, only being what people want. That's the only reason he is cool, right?
...right?
