Ground all 767 flights operated by JAL. Move the airport out of the prefecture. Send JAL packing. I'm tired of the noisy flights.

I've flown JAL, ANA, Delta and American in the past year, and I'll take the Japanese airlines any day of the week.

Mashiki is the town that bore the brunt of the recent Kumamoto earthquake. It was hit with two massive tremors. The second was the larger, leading to reconsideration of whether the expression "aftershock" should be used any more.

The last thing they need right now is stuff falling out of the sky onto them.

if this were a LLC the Japanese media would have ROASTED them, but JAL and ANA are the darlings who also get government bailout money if they fail so they have protection

The 767s are being phased out by JAL and ANA. Many have been used domestically so have an excessive amount of cycles/takeoffs and landings, which are more critical to "wear and tear" on an aircraft than hours. Japanese carriers have one of the best safety records in the world and also in general have newer fleets.

They are doing much better than Southwest (or U.S. carriers in general) recently.

They're lucky noone got hurt, but if they keep this up this will go wrong one time.

There does appear to be a dichotomy of approach to incidents dictated by nationality.
