A 10-year-old boy fell to his death from the 13th floor apartment where he lived with his family in Yokohama, police said Tuesday.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Monday at the condo in Tsuzuki Ward. Fuji TV quoted police as saying the boy fell out of an open window.
The boy was at home with his older brother. Both parents were out at the time, police said.

Oh my goodness, that is horrible news. There are no safety features to prevent accidents like this. Parents need to sit down with their kids and warn them about the dangers of playing around apartment windows.

RIP little one.

10 years old is too old to not know there is danger. He was probably goofing around and slipped. rIP.

Yikes. Very sad news indeed. I wonder what he and his older brother were doing at the time. Either way, I pray for the family to get through this.

This happens far too often here - to the point where it seems as though the society doesnt really seem that interested in proactive measure to protect its kids. There are solutions - for example in NYC, window guards must be installed in apartments with kids. It is the building owners responsibility.

Funk, sad, sad and sad.......
Life is short, enjoy it while you can and be good to those that are good to you, because there isn't anything after.
Hope the boys family find peace.
Not everyone matures at the same rate, some don't see the dangers before them.

Does anyone know at what age, kids can be left alone without Parental monitoring/care - here in Japan ?

the elder brother is playing games inside the room, the younger decided to play in the veranda...sad turn of events. Bad parenting i suppose unless the kid disregarded the rules.
