A 10-year-old boy died after his shoulder bag strap got hooked on a tree branch in a park in Midori Ward, Nagoya, on Thursday afternoon, police said Friday.
Police believe the boy was climbing the tree in Nishikami-no-Kura park around 4 p.m. Apparently he lost his footing. Somehow, the strap on his bag hooked onto a tree branch three meters above ground, leaving the boy hanging, police said. A passerby saw the boy and called police. The boy was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the police, the boy is a fifth grade student at Hirabari-Minami Elementary School. His family said that he often played in the park on holiday or his way home from school.© News reports
