Here we go. No doubt the tension will build up. Warships in close proximity. It could get ugly.

No, it won't. Ships in International waters, no violation of territory means no cause for concern or complaint. Surprised it's even news.

If Japan did what it does now--import raw materials--instead of acquiring them by "Southward Advancement", the Pacific war might have been avoided. Is China doing its own version of southward advancement to the Spratly Islands now?

Wasnt that kind show of force was a very constructive thing when the US government intended to intervene the dispute in south China seas? A clear message with actions! 3x8 Moskit missles at sea was a very clear message to tell the US carrier to stay away!

Where's Starwars when you need it.... Just shoot them from space.

Yeah, and start WW3. Good call. I'm glad people like you aren't in government...

No it won't. They're just returning home. As Spidapig said, these are the ones that passed a few weeks ago.

The Chinese ships were probably returning from military exercises (aka saber rattling) in the South China Sea near the Spratly Islands.

I bet this is the Chinese response to the current Japanese response to the Chinese fishing vessel captain's response to ... where was I?

They could have called in Okinawa on a good will visit, for a little R&R.shot a little pool with the US marines, the PR exercise would have been fun. As a point, was there a typhoon at the time, relating to the headline "High Seas" in the international waters?

Well shock horror, they are the same ships they saw going out to sea a couple of weeks ago and now they are returning. Why the hell is this even news? Seriously Japan you do have some major issues....
