To put this in another perspective, there isn't, like just one person waiting for eleven hours. There are quite a few waiting 5,6,7,8,9,10 hours! This means there are a great number of people waiting a good long time to speak to a Japanese guy (I guess) in a large mouse costume. Unreal!

They should have a limit on the people they admit

They do have a limit of how many are admitted though I am not sure of the number. As you can see, everyone is there while the other attractions have 15min waits which is rare for Tokyo Disneyland. Good time to go to other attractions while a new attraction or parade is going on.

I have yet to take my kids to any Disneyland but I promised my wife if we go, Hong Kong is best. Less people and cheaper to get in.

11 hours?! If these are kids...maybe, just maybe I'll understand. Sadly, I have a feeling that majority are adults. Just imagining the high pitched KAAWWAAAAIIII and YAAABBBAAAIII makes me shiver.

I dont think that I could wait 11 hours to see a bloke in a mouse costume, my life is to short for that.

11 hours wait ?! Someone's taking the Mickey for sure on that one, and for anyone who waits that long in a queue... you're certainly being taken for a ride...

11 hours?!

It takes less time than that to fly from Japan to the West Coast.

At least people line up for 6 hours without pushing in.

I bring my two kids home to America each year.. We always plan to visit Canobie Lake, our local amusement park on a Monday night. For most rides, there are no lines. My children loved it more than Tokyo Disneyland.

Twenty minutes from their grandpararent's house and it doesn't cost a fortune.

more success for Yokoso Japan!  Overcrowding of so many tourist traps.  Was always crowded at Disney but huge influx of foreign tourists making it unbearable.

I'm (almost) surprised that they haven't imposed theme park max capacity restrictions yet. The wait times at both Disney theme parks is ridiculous. Then again, there are those that go just for the Disney atmosphere. Not gonna lie, my wife and I are two of those people who'd go for that very reason. I do wish our kids could enjoy the rides a bit more like we did when we were younger at the Anaheim park.

Why not just get your photo taken outside an eikaiwa school? A mickey mouse outfit without the 11 hour wait.

I'm curious as to how long the wait time was, since it says no one actually waiting the calculated 11 hours (that sounds almost as long as the park is open)

Luckily, this was a one-time phenomenon due to the fact that it was the 90th "birthday" of Mickey Mouse. That's what the article said.

Most attraction wait times are muuuuch shorter than that. (Though admittedly longer than at Disneyland and WDW.)

sooooo many people projecting their frustrations on a one-time happening because it suits their rhetoric...sigh...

good to know. I'm gonna start waiting when the park closes at night.

That confounded rat will have my missus dragging me there at some point, nothing surer.

Wait and not see ?

My time is worth more than queing with no joy.

I went to the park during a very low customer day, which happens oftsn in the weekdays. It was ok but price still hurt me anyway as there are no real reduction of any kind.

I have been going to the French park since the opening without paying being incited by friends. You feel it is ok to spend then with a family of 3 kids otherwise Disney go to hell with you record profits.

I once waited for a small ride during 2 hours with my Japanese nieces and was astonished they did not complain a second.

What a waste I was thinking for me and them...of course we discussed but it was far from comfirtable conditions . That is how they stay fit though ;)

Waiting in super longs lines for anything is so Japanese.

If they want it they will wait.

What's most depressing is that most of the people flocking here are not children but adult (often university educated) women.

The Mickey Mouse attraction sounds very exciting. But 11 hours to wait is too much. My family and I would wait for a maximum 3 hours. With the popularity of Disney in Japan, I believe 2 more Disneylands Resorts should be built to cope with demand (Sapporo and Osaka msybe).

could this be the origin of the expression: "taking the mickey" ?

Wouldn't be so bad if they had lines on benches to sit on that everyone could shuffle along or, better still, ran on a slow moving conveyor belt system.

....and TV's showing disney movies. Anything really.

Standing in a line for upto 2 hours is testing anyones conversation ability

As sensei258 stated, that is why I don't go to amusement parks in Japan either! I find it amazing the amount of patience and tolerance Japanese have either to line up take a cheesy picture with Micky Mouse(pun intended), or to ride a 1 minute roller coaster. At least when people line up at restaurants there is the expectation that you will get a good meal.

They should have a limit on the people they admit.

Good idea, but profit trumps common sense.

So by the time you get to the attraction, the park is closed and you just wasted 11 hours. Great!

Jeeeeezz... I'm speechless.

They should all baaaaa like sheep the entire time. The Japanese ability to tolerate long lines never fails to amaze me. I used to go to mass events in my area--Luminarie, hanabi taikai, Chinese NY etc. The presence of the rent a cops wielding batons and megaphones, the endless taped off passages, I felt like a cow being led to slaughter.

All those going to these parks are getting ripped off. They should have a limit on the people they admit so those who pay the stupidly high prices these parks set, can get the service/product they paid for.

Disneyland Japan should introduce a fast pass system for these photo events. People are clogging the park, but might not be spending any money.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

this is one of the main reasons why I never go to amusement parks I don't want to pay an arm and a leg and then spend most of my time waiting in line

Is this the sum of the ambitions of the human race?
