A 12-year-old boy was hit and killed by an express train while on a crossing in Omuta, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Sunday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:40 a.m. on the JR Kagoshima Line about one kilometer from Omuta Station, Fuji TV reported. The driver of the train, bound for Hakata Station, was quoted by police as saying he saw the boy on a kick scooter enter the crossing . He applied the emergency brake but could not stop in time.

Police said the crossing gates were down at the time.

The boy, who went to a special needs school, was confirmed dead at the scene after the accident.

There were no injuries among the train passengers, police said.

Disillusioned.

Always ready to judge. We don't know anything about the boy, his special needs or his school.

Special needs suggests that he was lacking some mental abilities, I wonder how come he was on his own ? Poor lad, though in the long run - maybe best for him - a quick death, rather than a slow one in his future as an Adult within this Modern day careless society.

Sad! I guess his 'special needs' school didn't stress the importance of why they have gates, lights and bells on rail crossings.
