13-year-old girl missing in Saitama since March 10

A 13-year-old girl has been missing in Asaka, Saitama Prefecture, since March 10, police said Friday.

The girl, Anna Saito, did not return home after school on March 10. Fuji TV reported that her mother found a note in the mailbox which said: "I need a little break from home and from school. I'll be at my friend's house for now. Please do not come searching for me."

The girl's mother phoned her daughter's friends but she was not with any of them. She told reporters she can't even begin to think of what might have happened and that she had no idea where her daughter might have gone.

Police have asked anyone with any information regarding the case to call the Asaka police department at 048-465-0110.

OMG i wanted to throw up when i read about this. didn't you hear from the case junko furuta? it also happened in saitama when the girl (she was 16 or 17) was missing, she was abducted by 4 boys in her age and they forced her to call her parents that she ran away and not to look for her, then they raped and killed her. the boys were freed from prison after a few years. theres a high chance they also abducted anna.

It's been over a week now. It's quite possible that it's something more serious...

because she knows her parents will kick her but.

but... what? Tell me, I need to know!

Hope for the best.

If she chose to run away, there is at least a decent chance she is not being hurt. With some home situations, it would be hard to say if being found and going back would be a good thing or not.

She's in somebody's arms now.

602miko - Kids don't grow up to be brats by themselves. Brat kids come from brat parents.

Not everyone is a paragon of rationality at 13. I know that I certainly wasn't. Maybe there are problems at home; maybe there is bullying at school. Her parents may not be (at least to her) the easiest people in whom to confide. I hope that however this turns out, she is found safe and sound. So far,it seems at least better than suicide. I hope that she wasn't forced to leave the note, unlikely though that grim scenario may be.

We don't know the whole story, but that is probably not a happy family. My sister did exactly the same thing at 13, left a note on the table saying that she was going to live with friends. At the time our domestic situation was terribly unhappy, and she just wanted to get away from it all. I hope the girl is found soon, and I hope she can reconcile with her mother.

If it was my daughter, and she had "decided to take a break from home and school" without having the decency to tell her parents about it first, she would certainly not be getting any "breaks" or "friends" when she decided to return. Serious brat alert. No cell phones, no pocket money, no fun for her in the future...

There is the other possibility that she did not leave the note though ... it does seem a bit strange, in the days of line and what not...

The girl’s mother phoned her daughter’s friends but she was not with any of them.

Like a teenage friend is going to tell the truth

With all the suicides in Japan, its not really a surprise that a teen might choose to just run away from all the ridiculous pressures placed on them by schools and parents is it? They get robbed of a real social life, something which is a basic part of human happiness.

So mom wouldn't be scared, just angry.

I hope for a happy ending. Why did she leave the note in the mailbox?

“I need a little break from home and from school. I’ll be at my friend’s house for now."

After a thorough investigation, I might have a clue as to where she might be. There's a distant possibility that she may be at a friend's house.

Time to get runaway kids faces onto milk cartons. Let's hope she is just another punk teenage runaway and has not become the victim of some psycho

Holy cow!! And I'm just about to transfer in that station!! This girl sounds like she is a real dim Witt!! Poor mother!!

"can’t even begin to think of what might have happened" Well I can...she met a much-older guy through an online website, and they have been "enjoying each other's company" . She doesn't want to come home because she knows her parents will kick her but.
