A 14-year-old boy fell to his death from the 5th floor of the apartment building in which he lives in Tokyo's Ota Ward on Tuesday, police said.

Police said they received a call at about 7 a.m. from a resident in the apartment building, reporting that a boy's body was lying on the roof to the lobby entrance, TBS reported. The boy was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Police believe the boy committed suicide but have not released any other details yet.

Where were the parents? They didn't even notice he was missing?

gogogo: maybe they were sleeping or thought he was sleeping (spring break). what difference does it make, he's 14 yrs old and doesn't need a babysitter, let alone his parents watching his every move.

Another teenage jumper! It ties on well with the article from a few weeks ago about the problems in the Japanese education system. I can guarantee this kid was failing at school and copping 'ijime' from his school mates and/or teachers. Poor kid! Japan is a country of 130 million strangers!

Sounds like another bullying case, but probably nobody will ever know for sure.

Laughable. You have no idea what the situation is. Pure speculation on your part.
