A 17-year-old boy was hit and killed by a train in an apparent suicide Tuesday in Nogi, Tochigi Prefecture.
According to police, the incident occurred on the JR Utsunomiya Line at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. A camera on the front of the train showed the boy, who was wearing his school uniform, climb under a fence and walk onto the tracks, Sankei Shimbun reported.
The driver told police he applied the emergency brake but couldn’t stop in time. There were no injuries among passengers on the train.

Poor kid and poor driver who had to witness such a tragedy. RIP to the kid and give the train driver some time off, he'll need it.

School kids and salarymen alike are thrown back into the ridiculous amount of pressure after a long(ish) break.

There's a lot of sadness, meanness and pressure a kid faces, not just in America and not just in Japan. Children get abused mentally, physically, psychologically and it results in drugs, mental illness, criminal activity, suicide and too many people that claim to be parents don't STOP, and SHUT UP and look beyond theirselves and their lives. This ain't the 'golden days' of a previous generation and the 'old standards' don't work for today. Too many people just treat their kids as a commodity and they pretend it's like what they see on TV.
There was a reason why this young boy took his life and apparantly nobody seemed to realize the pressures and angst he was going through. For too many families it's 'O-bla-di O-bl-da life goes on' but teenage and young adult life has pain and for most life 'just goes on' and for the ones who don't get their life issues addressed this is the result. It's a sad situation and no one really seems to want to address it enough. Until they do, tragedies like this will keep on happening : '''(
