A 2-year-old boy was found by his father dead inside a bin at an apartment in Nerima Ward, Tokyo, on Tuesday afternoon. Police said all the family members were at home when the boy was found.

According to police, the 34-year-old father found the boy's body inside the 80-centimeter-tall bin in their apartment around 4:10 p.m. Police said the boy didn't have visible injuries. An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday to determine the cause of death.

Police said the father, 34, mother, 33, and two sisters lived together with the boy, and are questioning all members of the family to find out what happened.

found inside a bin INSIDE THE APARTMENT? While everybody was at home?

jeeze, this doesn't sound good. What kind of bin? airtight? did he suffocate?

Sounds like it could have been some game, maybe hide-and-seek, that got out of hand with this unfortunate result.

that must be the worst thing in the world to discover.

you don't find babies in bins!!!!!!!!!!! - you are negligent if you let something happen to a child. A 2yr old shouldn't be out of sight of the parent let alone able to encounter any danger.

I'm curious to find out why. Seems like he was hiding and suffocated, maybe on the plastic bag. I hope there was no foul play. RIP little man.

Babies get into anything and everything. That's why we have baby gates, and plastic things to plug the electric sockets on the walls and put the breakable items up on high shelves. I can't imagine it was easy to lose track of a kid in a tiny Japanese apartment, but stranger things have happened.

(Many years ago) I worked at a store selling office supplies; we pulled mischievous kids out of cabinets a couple of times, and once from a SAFE on the display floor. Mom is busy shopping and creative little minds will find a way to get attention. When you're a baby, the dining room table becomes a play fort. There could be a perfectly innocent and tragic explanation for this.

I worked at a tax service place, and kids would start licking their fingers, and then touch electric outlets... oce one did it, they all wanted to do it! I lost some of my hair while working there! This was a sad accident... I hope the family will find peace!
