2-year-old boy missing in Toyama Prefecture

Every parents worst nightmare. I hope it ends well.

As a parent of three extremely energetic boys, I can definitely say that a 2 year old ids very unpredictable. My kids would never wander away in the dark, but all kids are different. Pray they find him alive

Kinda strange, how far can a 2 year old kid go in a few minutes at 6.45 when it starts getting dark at that time. A short sprint around the house would easily make you catch up with a toddler as he's probably afraid to wander off too far in the dark

Praying does nothing to help (apart from making you feel like you contributed).

Action (doing something) get results. Thinking to yourself does not.

That aside, I do hope this turns out well for the toddler and his family.

Its a hell of a coincidence that the one time a toddler gets out of the house just happens to be the same time instead of a good Samaritan walking by, its an child abductor. If I was the police I would be narrowing my search area....

Small children can disappear in seconds. Adults can easily get distracted and something like this happens. You can't blame the parent. Two years we were at a ballpark and my 3-year-old grandson vanished in a minute. His parents and my wife and I had just seen him. Then he was gone. We found him in his mom's car in his car seat strapped in. He took himself to the car and got in his car seat. We were so relieved but it showed how fast kids can disappear.

I live in Japan. Japanese police are kind of weird they do not accept help from other area police. I had information for another girl missing in Japan. Took to local police and they said they can not do anything. That I would have to actually go to area and give information to police. They did call that area but they even said didnt need my help. The current case is weird because was raining and dark I do not think a little kid would wonder off far from porch if raining and dark. And most Japanese when young like that the parent take bath together And from what I understand mostly rice fields near there it is country side area. SO should of been found within minutes. Unless fake story by parent. Or aliens. Or maybe some big monkey heard the toddler crying and hauled him off. As for someone else obducting maybe someone that knew them because in country side doubt some stranger just happened to be in area at that time of night in rain and dark.

I woke one morning to find the front door of our apartment (twenty years ago) unlocked, the chain off and our daughter downstairs (3F apartment building) and she was running around the parking area. Yes, it only takes seconds for your kid to disappear, especially if someone is looking to kidnap them.

After seeing all the video coverage on TV I've yet to see one dog.

Sometime I wonder if it's a good idea to somehow attach a GPS to a child known to do such a thing, I am sure it helps, just an idea, many think it's not but then again this is a personal choice.

Spoke too soon, wifey said that a dog was being used. Hope they find the lil guy soon.

Simply locking the front door (as well as kitchen and patio/veranda doors, if applicable) would have prevented this, most likely.

I don't get it, how do you define 'should'? This crime was not synchronized with the police, and there isn't a 1-hour time limit in which this mystery must be solved or ratings will go down, so I'm not clear on where you get this 'should'? 'Should' by what imperative? What are you qualifying this against?

There is no should. They may never find anything. Ever. Or they may be in the process of arresting the perp right as I type. That's the real world.

The mankind can send satellites into space, can trace, find and kill with a drone a hidden terrorist on a terrace , have much experience with similar cases of runaway children, well equipped police, armed forces, thermographic cameras, night vision, helicopters etc available, but cannot find a two years old toddler walking slowly around within a few seconds or minutes? Are you somehow kidding us?
