…and “Japan marks world's highest number of weekly COVID cases“. This is not going well.

Its like HIV / AIDs all over again. Male Gay's having unprotected sex with each other, some with multiple partners and thus the virus spreads, then with a bisexual or two getting infected, you now have a spread to non-gay people, particularly through prostitution. University Students are renown for their promiscuity, should the virus reach that community, then we may start seeing a whole lot more cases.

I think we'll see more cases come out of the woodwork-
just a hunch, mind you.

People are no longer scared of CoVid19 so the few internationalists threw in another exotic virus that would make the people scared again so that they would queue at vaccination centers, wear mask, social distance, etc giving away their liberties while these unelected global bureaucrats increase their power and control.

Well, they all want this colorful rainbow, but quickly forget that it , as the name already hints, only comes together with the rain.

Is there some kind of monkey love challenge going around on TikTok with the youngsters?

It would be more accurate to say 'second confirmed case' rather than 'confirmed its second case', as you can bet that there are more than a few cases passing under the radar. And it that way it will spread uncontrolled. Please be careful out there, stay safe, avoid risky behaviours and help slow the spread. I agree that in Japan, young people are likely to be a high risk group, because of lack of proper health education. Sex workers and those who buy sex are likely to be other major vectors. This is the danger of not learning from history, even recent history. Hoping I'm wrong, but quietly pessimistic.

people should read/understand the pathology of monkey pox. Basically if you're not gay/bisexual then you have nothing to worry about. This fear mongering from the press is reprehensible.
On a side note, I wish gay men would act responsibly and wear protection.

Wrong. Misinformation. Sexual contact is an easy way to spread it, but it is not an STD. All close contact can lead to infection. That's why people who live with an infected person are also at high risk.

And because it's not an STD, 'safer sex', like wearing a condom, will not protect you.

That is good news...54 years of unblemished hetreosexuality, though I do have doubts about that one "girl" in Thailand. But what happens in Bangkok stays in Bangkok, right!

important not to get hung up on gay/not gay.... you can be camp as a row of tents, but if you don't 'sleep around', then sexual preference is completely irrelevant.
only some gays are promiscuous, just as only some straights, only some bi-sexuals, some newhalfs..... and etc and etc....

The message should be if you want to venture out and go travel for your own PLEASUR !!!!! do it at your own risk, and if you return with the virus then be ready to pay $$ for all the medical care and any legal actions taken against you.

Smallpox vaccines are also effective against monkeypox and the efficacy is supposed to last for decades. All Japanese aged 48 and over got pox jabs when they were children. If you’re under age 48, you may have to get vaccines but they are attenuated live vaccines and much safer and more reliable than mRNA Covid vaccines.

As mean as the above sounds and the down votes.
This is from today's super left CBC News

And yes it does seem to be a repeat of the beginning of the 1980s HIV/AIDS situation.

Oh great. Safe to say It's embedded in Tokyo now.

Sadly it is precisely that attitude that has lead us to this situation.
Western medical experts knew long ago which people and what community was getting sick and where it was spreading.
But politics and "feelings" got in the way of facts and commonsense.
Fearing "stereotyping" of the gay/bisexual community,
Western governments like in the UK and Canada decided not to make the 99% male bi/gay thing public until it crossed over and females caught it from ( yes you guessed it) their bisexual male partner.
Now too late and the cat out of the bag Public Health Agency Canada has finally come out with the facts in public
This was said in the news months ago and continually played down even denied in many western countries in order not to hurt someone's feelings.

Or, the same thing that usually happens a zoonotic disease entered the human community, no need for any conspiracy for something unfortunately natural and frequent to happen again.
Nothing in the pathology of the infection would make sexual preference a factor of importance for complications.
You understand that the disease is not exclusively transmitted by sexual fluids, right? what kind of protection are you thinking that could prevent contact with a lesion present anywhere in the body?
Smallpox vaccines are the classic example of vaccines with frequent adverse effects, not to count the rare but possible problems it can cause precisely because it is an attenuated vaccine like encephalitis or the progressive vaccinia (google images of this at your own risk).

Virusrex.
Yes that is theoretically correct but please understand we are at this point precisely because the gay and bisexual community have forgotten about the years of HIV AIDS and returned to high risk behavior.
When health Canada issues a warning specifically targetting gay and bisexual males and says 99% of those infected are gay/bi males under 36 the message isn't vague.

You are all worrying about the wrong things. Covid is no longer the problem it was and monkeypox is just an STD with limited overspill. You need to be more worried about the consequences of global economic collapse and climate change. Running with daily Covid counts as a headline is crazy. The rest of the G7 have moved on (and gone back to normal tourism too). Step into 2022, Japan.

Please folks ignore the above!
Monkey pox is not just an STD not by a long shot.
It may not be airborne transmissible yet but you can catch it by other means that sexual and yes a casual contact with an infected person with open lesions could get you infected.
So spread false information that it is an STD is dangerous and can lead to stigmatizing people that get infected by non sexual means.
Stop spreading false information!
treble4punk
Stop marginalizing STDs.
Monkeypox is not only an STD.
Monkeypox can be spread by respiratory droplets.Learn from covid, wear a mask.
vendingmachinemusic
Traveling abroad to have intercourse with strangers unprotected. Darwinism 101.
Rakuraku
and also what is the % of gay and be in all the case.
Rakuraku
True but but gays still tend to be much more promiscuous than hetero because men on average tend to have a higher libido than women. So 2 persons with high libido naturally means more sex.
virusrex
The criticism is not about asking people to be responsible and having safe sex, the criticism is about "wearing protection" as the way to have safe sex, for HIV this may make some sense, but for monkeypox it is completely irrelevant.
This mistaken idea can be part of the reasons for the spread, people thinking that wearing protection is enough to act responsible.
