Was chased up a tree by a wild pig years ago in Australia. My cousin and I (aged about 8) decided to go bow hunting on my parent's property. Only problem was that the bow only drew about 20 pounds (a target bow). Cousin skimmed an arrow off the pig's head and the event became a 80 metre sprint up the nearest tree. We were rescued about 4 hours later by grandfather and "Bruce" (a cantankerous old pig dog). One look at Bruce's pearly whites and the pig (about 70kg) decided to leave the vicinity.

lots of them around her and they are pretty peaceful even with my dogs, so far. I have seen people with bats going after them though so no surprise that some can get p@@sed with us humans.

They should have questioned the boar before killing it! There wasn't any proof it was the same boar, you damn oppressors!

So don't go around firing arrows at wild animals then...

There is a very good reason that people go after wild pigs.

For macho posturing?

I grew up hunting feral pigs with my dog and good knife often on my own. I had armour for my dog. Once my dog had a pig tired out, I would then give him the the order to latch on to the pig real good anywhere on his head. I would then rush in and grab a back leg to emobile the Pig and then thrust my knife deep into the middle of it,s rib cage just behind its shoulder with a twisting motion when the knife is hilt deep. The Pig is dead with-in 30 seconds. If you went hunting with a bat and were lucky enough to corner the pig and to get a decent swing that hit its mark, right on the pig head. It would only stun the pig momentary. You would have to follow up with another 10 or more swing the same as the first to knock it out. Last year where I lived I notice there was a plenty of feral pigs in the mountains. I am thinking of incorporating pig hunting into a team building program, I am setting up in Tokyo.

@Hongo had a similar experience when I was out night fishing, walking back to camp late at nigh a friend saw a few piglets, idiot decided to try and catch one! but wheres there piglets theres a sow a big frigin pig! she cam running out of some bushes at us!. we sprinted! i mean Ussain Bolt would have been proud!. All the while running and the pig chasing we were trying to pull each other back behind each other as the last person is probably the one who get mauled. Scary as hell while it was happening , but funny as hell the next day!. there was some pretty rough terrain we had to cross in getting to the best fishing spot along the river, took us about 15minutes trekking. but on the return journey the pig close behind it took us like 3minutes to get back LOL. still to this day dont know how we did it, but I know I wasnt the last one back!! LOL

The wild boar population, as well as the deer, is in fact out of control. Hunting is necessary to keep the population in ccheckand hearthy, as well as to preserve the forests.
