Toddlers and water are a dangerous mix. You can't take your eyes off them for a second. I could go on to stating he was too young to be playing on a seawall, but that's only my opinion.

We’ve evolved to the point where we have appendages at the end of our arms that can keep the young out of harm, just need the capacity to engage said apparatus.

The poor boys family were negligent, totally avoidable if supervised properly.

Geez... how many times, and how many summers, do we have to read about all these preventable deaths? Where do people here learn parenting?

The water was only a metre deep so if the child had been watched and supervised, an adult could have rescued him as soon as he fell.

Watching a child non-stop is difficult and clearly the parents did not realise the dangers. A very sad and preventable death.

This says everything. Young Japanese parents tends to be inattentive when they get acquainted with their friends or relatives, especially when they started chatting.

I'm very sorry for the thoughtless comments of those who did not experience this great loss.

We should each pray for the safety of those we love, near and far.
