30,000 chickens die in Kagoshima fire

About 30,000 chickens died in a fire at a chicken farm in Minami-Kyushu City, Kagoshima Prefecture, on Sunday morning. Nobody was injured, police said.

According to police investigations, the fire broke out in two chicken coops around 11:05 a.m. The owner's wife called police. Police believe a faulty electrical circuit caused the fire.

Notice that the wife called the police and not the fire department (she wanted to make sure they would be extra crispy for the arriving police - it sure beats donuts!).

scrap:

" You wouldn't want to eat those factory, chemical-fed chickens anyway. "

So what do you think you get when you order a karaage or chicken sando?

I bet local KFCs didn't predict the sudden drop in business revenues.

You wouldn't want to eat those factory, chemical-fed chickens anyway. They spend their whole life in small wire cages and never see the light of day. If they had been raised out in the open (free range) like animals should be, this would not have happened. I'll pay more for free-range anyday.

Wonder if the fire department brought BBQ sauce, instead of water.

cost? monetary loss?

A lot, I hope.

Better still if it was uninsured.

30,000 birds in two coops. Factory farming at its best. Devastating blow to the farmer, or should we say factory manager, my eye.

Well it looks like his chickens have come home to roast now.

A bird in hand is the best way to eat a chicken...LOL!

Poor birds. They had a lousy life, and a lousy death.

I knew some readers would post juvenile comments about yakitori or roast chicken. Readers, this is a tragedy, to say nothing of a devastating blow to the farmers. Please think before posting lame jokes. I don't know why the mods allow it.
