4 found dead in car in apparent group suicide in Saitama Prefecture

Four people were found dead in a car parked in a vacant lot in Moroyama, Saitama Prefecture, on Monday, in what police believe was a joint suicide.

According to police, a passerby called 110 at around 9:15 a.m. and said there was a “suspicious parked vehicle and smoke was filling up inside,” Sankei Shimbun reported. When police arrived, they found the bodies of three women believed to be in their 20s and a man in his late 30s or early 40s in the driver’s seat.

Police also found suicide notes and burnt charcoal briquettes inside the car which was rented in Tokyo. The windows were sealed shut with tape.

What an awful way to go.

Not awful. Apparently carbon monoxide is one of the most painless ways to die; the other being getting plastered and falling asleep in the snow, Siberia style...

Sad nevertheless.

What a waste. Why commit suicide at that age?

What a tragic story. It's awful that anyone should feel that life is not worth living, but for youngsters in their 20s to prefer death is just too sad. What made them feel this way? An investigation needs to be conducted to find the root cause so that this can be prevented in future. Something as terrible as this should trigger a serious response.

It's sad that so many people feel that everything is vain or such a joke. It's sad that so many feel they have no hope. Suicide is not an answer. It hurts the people that know and love them, whom they leave behind. They need help and too often others don't recognize that something's wrong until it's too late. There's a better avenue, a better road to take.

My condolences for the family members that are grieving over their lost loved ones.

Apparently or believe to be ?

Where are the facts ?

What a dumb article.

Comments of people dreaming up possible scenarios and allegations of suicide reasons is also dumb.

My condolences for the family members that are grieving over their lost loved ones.

Really sad to hear young people driven into a situation where they want to end their life.

I hope they're resting in peace now, and that society will work towards a better world for everyone.

If you are the next passer by, break a window/open the doors and try to get the people out.

We live in a world of insecurity: economic insecurity, social insecurity, environmental insecurity. People of these young women’s generation lack the stability and surety that their parents enjoyed. A generation raised on promises of “If you try your hardest, if you do good in school, if you keep your nose clean, everything will turn out fine” is rapidly coming to grips with the idea that their security, their stability, their prosperity, and their happiness is not a function of their own decisions. All those things are dictated by outside forces they barely understand and cannot hope to control. The realization that the happiness you were promised was squandered ages ago by the greed and avarice of preceding generations can be a crippling one.

And as for blaming ‘social media’ or what have you, I find it hard to criticize them for finding meager solace where they can, considering they were very much born into a world where their futures were set on fire decades earlier by a bunch for greedy little Neros. I can hardly judge them for finding comfort in a bit of fiddling.

When you have a society were everyone is expected to be the same you will have these kind of issues. You have young kids who start life as if they are tiny bots and are mentally forced to learn how to compete against one another. Then they have to endure a system that tells them to take a national exam in order to get a good job or what is "PERCEIVED" to be a good job for life. If one does well your life is above the norm and you are considered a full robots name and job title is everything. This system contributes to Life pressure

Yet again, the excuse making and deflection machine will go into overdrive lest the ‘wrong’ inference be drawn. Under no circumstances must there be even the slightest suggestion that Japanese society is in any way complicit in an increasingly hard to hide litany of tragedies happening on an almost daily basis. We’ll be exhorted to believe that it’s all about the individual, and we’ll be told this with a straight face, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary that the social nexus is paramount in understanding this society and the preponderance of evidence attesting to the overt hostility meted out to individualism and any suggestion that society would benefit from encouraging and equipping people with the necessary tools they need to draw upon their own resources and be more resilient in the face of life’s disappointments.

Well effect of Japanese social media and jealousy high standard temperament among peers. Nothing can be done unless government starts censorship, which is almost impossible. So keep suffering. There is something bigger than economy that excessive showoff culture among young women. Showoff also drains money and push you to edge of bankruptcy. Systematically banning some - many social media accounts, videos will help. But that is impossible.

Economic decline in the last 40 years is reducing the population of Japan in a suicidal way. People are depressed because they don't have greens in their pockets.

What most people don't understand is, the best is yet to come. The rainbow is coming soon. Hold tight.

More details are needed about the ‘elder’ of the group. - Unlikely one of the 20-year-olds orchestrated the meeting, means and opportunity for a ‘group’ suicide:

*- “When police arrived, they found the bodies of three women believed to be in their 20s and a man in his late 30s or early 40s in the driver’s seat.” -*

Another tragic winter’s story for Japan. Desperate times for desperate souls. Was there no foreseeable future for these young women ?

Very sad to hear such news. Rest in peace.

Same thing happened before too:

What did the letters say? Why are those taking their lives mainly young women? Is this due to career difficulties? Financial difficulties? This needs to be addressed so that many of us can keep an eye out for those in trouble. This can't be prevented by simply having suicide hotlines only, in fact we as people can also help those in need starting with those around us.

4 found dead in car in apparent group suicide in Saitama Prefecture

Depressingly、a large segment of the number of suicides are due to simple economic concerns .

The new capitalism and virtuous cycle of economic gains has not filtered down as usual in this case.

Awful here.
