Four people were found dead in a minivan in Kobe on Sunday in what police believe was a group suicide.

Police said they received a phone call at around 6:45 p.m. Sunday from a landowner about a car parked in his vacant lot in Kita Ward, Sankei Shimbun reported. The man told police that the passengers inside the vehicle failed to wake up despite his banging on the door.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men and two woman dead inside, with remnants of charcoal briquettes on the floor. The doors to the vehicle were locked and windows sealed shut with tape.

According to police reports, a man who appeared to be in his 30s to 40s was seated in the driver’s seat with another male in his late 20s or early 30s in the second row. Two females in their late teens or early 20s were seated in the car’s third row. None of the passengers had visible injuries on their bodies.

So sad.

I am shocked. They did not have to do this.

Well, I suppose its better than inconveniencing others by jumping in front of a train.

But better still would have been to move on from their problems and choose life.

This is really upsetting. The hardest part is when you work so much and you can't even make the time to help those who feel this kind of depression. Honestly I hear therapists are trash here. They say "you think too much" "try to relax" and that's about it. How do I know my gf goes and tells me they do nothing. Everytime I see posts like this I get extremely worried because sometimes she'll be so depressed or away from her phone and no messages no read for a couple days and I'm thinkin I hope this ain't her.

I know empathy or even sympathy for that matter isn't Japan's strongest suit.

But couldn't someone have helped?

This Nippon Kaigi led new world in Japan will only result in more and more cases like this,

You are shocked. But they obviously felt that they had to do it. Being shocked doesn't really help much.

This is one part of the culture I hope I will never get used to.

When you hit a brick wall were ever you go, weather its the school counselor , the city office, local hospital, when some people look at you stone faced, some are ice cold and your options are very limited, like I said before, if you are not mentally STRONG Japan is NOT the right place for you to live. be tough, and you will overcome all these obstacles, and don't expect to find an open arm welcome unless you got $$.

I am not amazed how the Japanese Government does not have enough resources for Japanese nationals to utilize in order to provide mental breakdowns and mental disorders. You would think that being one of the top countries for these kinds of mental illnesses, there would be more assistance. I would think at least....

When will the gov't crack down on these group suicide websites/groups/etc that are used for this?

When you commit suicide all you are doing is hurting those around you. Suicide is a PERMANENT Solution to a temporary problem.

Shouldn't a group suicide be called a murder suicide?

Feel sorry more for the landowner

I don’t understand such a behavior at all. I also have no future, no job, no money etc., but I swear, before I would go when further squeezed into the corner, I would take as much of those who did and still do that to me together with me into hell. I would never come onto an idea to go earlier and only alone by myself without fair balanced and paid back punishment for my punishers.

Not shocked
