Chinese cabbage is called 白菜 ハクサイ (hakusai) in Japanese. Who would ever think of dying from food purchased at your local supermarket?

Oh wow this is scary, considering the fact that I eat a lot of fresh local produce.

From what I've heard from Japanese sources here in Hokkaido is that it's some sort of キャベツの付き物 (cabbage side dish), so I think something was lost in the translation.

2011 E coli outbreak in Europe killed 50 people and was linked to vegetables - firstly Spanish cucumbers and then German sprouts. Seems that big outbreaks are not from dodgy meat - meat is usually cooked. uncooked vegetables are the prime source of the problem. Be careful.

Where did they get the cabbage from? What store? Was it the same company or same producer? No mention of the source of this cabbage or did i miss it? Or can you not mention the names yet, JT?

In case JP updates later. The are no company names mentioned as of 1:57pm JP time.
