Six men and women were bitten by a wild boar in Akiruno and Fussa cities in Tokyo on Friday morning.

According to police, the female boar, about one meter long, attacked the six, aged in their 40s to 70s, including one person on a bicycle, during a 30-minute period from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, TBS reported. None of the six people were seriously injured, police said.

Later Friday morning, the boar was captured and killed by members of a local hunting association.

According to Matthew Adam Arnold’s clip, the poor thing was caught, its legs trussed up with wire, then it was stabbed with a knife and disposed of, not shot dead.

Either way, poor boar.

Japan needs to dispose of all those 'local hunting associations' and get itself a proper and humane animal control regimen.

why did they have to shoot and kill the animal? Animal control has ZERO means to non-leathly trap and contain an animal and release back to the wild? For a nation which is heavily influenced by Buddhist culture and ideals they treat animals like crap!

TBS's site had a short video of the deceased boar. The markings and fur certainly make it look like a boar.

Wow! Pretty scary for those involved. However, I wonder if it was an actual wild boar (sow) or just a feral pig.

Was the boar tested for rabies?
